I have never posted on this site but after telling my story to a friend she convinced me that I should also share it with all those in Beijing who have an aversion to salmonella. I want to say that I stopped by the Kiosk at the end of summer '09. The woman that took my order proceeded to take out a slimy piece of pork from the frig. From the corner of my eye I saw her then use her slime covered hands to pick out a piece of bread and vegetables (for my sandwich). She did this all the while wearing a filthy pair of disposable plastic gloves. It seemed she had enough common sense to keep herself clean of any bacteria from my piece of swine but not enough to stop her from contaminating my food! I confronted her and she vehemently denied any wrong doing by pointing to the gloves and the fact that she had washed her hands earlier in the day. Not the answer I was expecting. I tried to explain that the gloves were rendered useless since she handled raw pork and then molested the other uncooked components of my meal. She gave me a bewildered look before I turned around and left. I want to believe that this was an isolated incident but at the very least customers should be vigilant as they watch the food being made.

Went by the Sanlitun location last Monday, and the Xingfu Yicun location yesterday. Both were closed at the time I visited. Not sure what gives, and don't know how much longer I'm going to be able to hold out w/o a Balkan burger.
