Minimalist decor and great lighting highlight the beautiful fare at this Dongcheng delight. One of the best Japanese restaurants in town, which reportedly flies in its fish fresh from the Tokyo fish market several times each week. Menu changes seasonally. Private rooms outfitted with tatami mats overlook the dim and sleek main dining area, which is ringed by additional private booths.

A hidden gem for real japanese food

I know this place since 2 years and I never even posted a review about it.

It is located in Chunxiu lu, the entrance is very nice, with the huge wood door and the stone. The restaurant itself is very nicely decorated, very japanese. The light is very intimate, perfect for a date that is worth it.

The crowd is mostly japanese expats, as the owner certainly is. The sashimi are a hit (the pieces however are a bit large, but I will not complain about it), and they have some special dishes realy worth the try. They often change the menu, and it is always a good surprise. The miso soup is very tasy, and the dessert (like the green tea creme brulée) are all very nice.

Good selection of sake, and teas, as well as healthy options of fresh juices blend.

I never get tired of going there for a good dinner after work, but be ready to empty your wallet. A good dinner for 2 will reach around 1000 RMB.

The experience starts with finding your way to this alley off Chunxiu Lu.
Once inside you'll find very cool decor and lighting.

Then the food starts arriving and you'll be wondering why no one ever told you about it earlier.
It like the fish were not only flown in from Tokyo but they traveled first class in order to arrive extra fresh and ready for business.

Excellent range of sakes as you'd expect too.
Pricey but great for a special occasion/date meant to impress.
