On a scale from 0 to 20 (0 = the ski mound in Chaoyang park, 10 = Nanshan)

Longfeng shan is a - 1 - give it a miss!

The thing going for Longfengshan is being a 10 min car ride from a subway stop. When I got there I had to fight the urge to turn around and get back on the subway. They had about 100 meters of snow on the bunny hill (as of Dec 21 in a cold winter). Not even the full length of the hill. Not coincidentally the point they stopped at works out to be the point where if someone goes full speed down the hill, as some beginners are apt to do, they run out of speed before banging into the lodge. Unfortunately the place is not even suitable for beginners as they have no snow grooming equipment and the snow was hard packed with icy patches.

Prices: 20RMB/person for park entry, reviewer paid 90RMB/day for skis but posted price was much higher (90 RMB/hour).

Equipment: old style (non-carving) skis and maybe 10 snowboards, there were no lines getting equipment.

Lodge: characterless shack right off equipment building, had a few plastic tables but no food to speak of, not even hot chocolate.

Lifts/Runs:
• Bunny hill served by a disc-lift, short lines during reviewer’s visit
• Intermediate hill with a two-person chair lift, was not operating during reviewer’s visit

Getting there: Take the subway to PingguaYuan, then look for drivers hanging around the exit and negotiate 30RMB

Getting back: No drivers hang out around the park entrance so get the number of the guy who took you out. Expect about 40RMB going back (hate it when they do that).

Night skiing: yes on bunny hill
