Made in China 长安一号
At Made in China, the hearty stewed Northeastern beast gets placated with a self-consciously designed dark wood and steel eatery; floor-to-ceiling shelves stocked with erguotou spirits and a stylishly exposed kitchen behind glass. But don’t be fooled by the hotel location. Here, the Beijing duck (RMB 238/whole duck, RMB 148/half, plus 15% service charge) is prepared with crisp, rich skin without a trace of hanging fat - the succulent meat goes well with the delicate, moist and paper-thin pancakes. This ritzy establishment also serves delicious pork and leek dumplings. Aside from duck, try the popular “beggar’s chicken.” The wine selection is excellent as well, with wine by the glass options (RMB 75 for a glass of 2008 Vina Esmerelda) and exclusive bottles on offer. Reservations are recommended at this perennial readers' favorite. Voted "Outstanding Chinese Restaurant of the Year" in the Beijinger's 2011 Reader Restaurant Awards.

Terrific Service
I had an anniversary lunch here as a solo diner, and had a great experience because of the terrific service. My SO emailed a form in to prepay for the meal, which is a nice option, and one that's not available at places like Da Dong or Duck de Chine.
I ordered stir fried cabbage, half a peking duck, duck soup, beggar's chicken, ice cream, xinjiang crispy pancake with lamb and chives, and ice-cream. Honestly, most of the food was good, but after foodie-ing around Beijing, it wasn't a revelation. The pancake and stir fried cabbage were yummy, but a little too oily. I should have specified ahead of time to use less oil. The peking duck was good, but the meat was drier than at Da Dong's, and the soup was too diluted and bland for me. I prefer a concentrated duck broth, and this version was lighter. The housemade ice cream was fresh, but the flavors didn't really sing through and there was too much sugar. The lychee ice cream tasted a little like bubblegum. However, the beggar's chicken was fantastic in both presentation and taste. It came out clay-encased, and I could whack at it with a mallet. The chicken was extraordinarily tender and had a light fragrant aroma.
The service was great. My dessert came out with a candle for my anniversary, and the manager was extremely competent and detail-oriented. When he asked how my food was, and I indicated a dish was too spicy, he whisked it away and had the chefs remake it. When he saw that my duck wraps were left uncovered, he offered to replace them with fresh warm ones. I've eaten at a range of mid and high-end Chinese restaurants, and I haven't encountered that kind of service. Usually, if you don't like your food, the attitude is that well, that's too bad, and if you argue enough, you worry that something gross is going to happen to your food. The staff was attentive without being claustrophobic, and I had a great time. The open-kitchen concept is cool, and the restaurant was surprisingly packed at lunch with businessmen, well-heeled locals, and hotel guests.

Timid takes on Chinese food
Nie atmosphere and all, and the duck was among the best I've had, but I found the rest of the food, especially the Sichuan dishes, to be lacking in complexity and boldness. I've had much better meals at plenty of hole-in-the-wall places around China. That said, I wasn't paying and so I didn't really care what a poor value it was.

Good chinese place
I recently went here and although the food was delicious I thought the layoutn was quite weird. You are practically in the kitchen with the steam blowing on you and the waiters are talking to eachother and you can here what they say... Otherwise, good service and nice duck!

Delicious!
I enjoyed this restaurant as it was the first Beijing roast duck I tasted and Ihave to say I was really impressed, especially when they cut it! I would definately reccomend this place, even if it is a little pricey but very nice for a special occasion. I also tasted the chef's specialty noodles which were great!

Good duck meat
I choose to eat duck meat in china. At a recent dinner invitation from someone who was staying at the hotel , got invited and was surprised that the restaurant in the hotel serves some great duck and good chinese food. Yes the prices were on higher side what impressed me is their food. All food is 5 star priced and you would easily end paying atleast a 100 US dollars atleast for a decent meal.

impressive
The duck was served by the chef or someone from the kitchen and he cut the portions for us and it got some sauces to go with and I liked it. It was my first time to eat a duck.
We were four of us and some other dishes ordered all were enjoyable.

The best of all
After reading many review debating where the best duck could be had, we decided to try Made in China, and we have no regrets. The food was great, between the Peking duck, dumplings, Mandarin fish and everything else we ordered, everything was outstanding. We will be back surely.

Standard, but Happy
Fairly impressive overall. Service was excellent (and pretty decent at English), and the duck wasn’t too fatty. Our spring rolls were delicious, and everything was beautifully presented. The only thing that was slightly off was the sheer size of the chairs, which are gargantuan and kind of ridiculous for a dinner setting. They were so big I had to lean over to talk to my neighbor, and not particularly comfortable. But food and drink-wise, everything was great. Impressive alcohol selection, and relaxed but distinguished ambiance. I would highly recommend.

I always take guests here rather than Da Dong...
It's the best Duck in the city and I think it's under-rated because people assume as a hotel restaurant it must not be great. True, you could be in a restaurant anywhere in teh world once inside, but it's a warm and modern atmosphere, amazing duck, fantastic wine list and you can make reservations unklike at Da Dong. Next time you have quests in town don't be put off because it's in the Grand Hyatt. It's really a wonderful dining experience and if the location were in Sanlitun, you wouldnt think twice about choosing this place over the other more "famous" duck places. truly a fantastic dining experience.

Delicious Peking Duck
Lovely atmosphere - great design, comfortable and relaxing as well as intimate. Open kitchens where you can watch a lot going on from roasting ducks to hand-making dumplings. Dessert bar as you walk in may make you skip the main course.
Don't forget to book a table, and a duck, in advance.

Good but not the best - too many expats there
it is very good and the fried dumplings are good, but Sky Fortune is better. it is off of Liangmaqiao road and has only local chinese businessmen and midde/upper class people. Very quiet but stylish and the duck has a better fat-meat ratio, plus they carve it at your table directly. their dumplings are also better.
Plus, when we went to made in china everyone there were foreigners, so they has to say something, and funnily enough they were all fat or chubby. doesn't give a good impression of the west.

Peking Duck to Make You Quack!
The Peking Duck was great skin light and crispy the meat very moist and tender and not the least bit fatty. They give a stack of pancakes, green onions and cucumber sliced up. They soup they made from the bones was very delicate in flavor with napa cabbage. We also had the squid in garlic and ginger that was good but be warned it has a ton of garlic (half cloves covered the bottom of the dish). We had two other dishes a shrimp and lotus root in celery and green peppers and some pork ribs both done real well and the rib meat was tender but not fall of the bone tender. The pancakes were served with bamboo baskets filled with steamy pancakes, along with dishes of plum sauce and slivers of scallions and cucumbers. It was warm and tender and decadently crisp, just like in the old country. It was gone too quickly and left us all wanting more. After the duck came beef, vegetables, rice and other very tasty dishes - but it was the duck that couldn't be topped. Go for the duck. Even if you're one person, order it and enjoy it all. Made in China is the perfect place to enjoy this Beijing delicacy.

King of Ducks
If there is a visitor in Beijing, regardless if they are here on business or pleasure, their priority for dining should always be BEIJING DUCK. End of discussion.
Here’s a list of my top 5 picks for Beijing Roast Duck (北京烤鸭):
1. Made in China – Hands down my favorite duck restaurant. Best duck to ever touch my palette, great overall menu, and beautiful interior design. Only down-side is that it’s located in a hotel and you need to make a reservation to get a table a few days in advance. A bit on the pricier side, but worth every penny. Beijing Duck
2. Xiao Wang Fu 小王府 - If I’m not trying to impress any out-of-town guests and the priority is good value, then I opt for Xiao Wang Fu, a popular chain of duck restaurants with a good selection of classic Chinese dishes for a very reasonable price.
3. Duck de Chine - A place to impress visitors or business clients, the interior is exquisite and I’m sold by their special duck sauce (plum sauce with swirls of peanut and sesame sauce topped with roasted garlic). My mouth waters just thinking about it. Great food, even better ambiance, so-so service, and expect to pay a pretty penny.
4. Da Dong大董烤鸭店- Often referred to as the Best Duck in Town, I think their duck does not even touch Made in China’s melt-in-your-mouth Beijing Duck. They claim their duck is more lean and they have a few chain restaurants in town, and have also recently expanded upon their already extensive menu.
5. Li Qun 利群烤鸭店 - Tucked away and difficult to find, but a great destination for the more adventurous tourists on a budget. Great duck for good value and a very authentic Chinese restaurant in terms of good food served in a poorly maintained establishment and lack of service.

Best Beijing Duck until you try it
Many will have their own preference over Peking duck, but until you tried a lot of them, then you can tell which one is the best, I happened to be a duck lover, and I think Made in China's peking duck is seriously the best. Many can hardly afford to eat at this expensive restaurant or either can't make it there (always fully booked), but they have the best fried cabbage and Sesame sauce Spinach...These are the top 3 dishes you must order in Made in China.
