REPLY NEEDED: Customer service literally KILLS. NEVER this bad ANYWHERE in Beijing!
22nd March. Dinner @ Migas. 8 people, 3,000 RMB for mediocre food. 2nd ti
Table partners: Owner(s) of: various restaurants and furniture jewelry stores*. The point of the people on the table is not famous people or name dropping, but people all in customer service related industries.
Request from waitress to get some lemon juice and hot water. After 20 minutes, no water and no waitress. So I looked for the manager (overweight guy with glasses) and explained the situation to him.
He replied, "maybe we don't have lemon". I showed him BOTH Lemon AND Lime on the drinks cart. He said "these are lemons, not lemon juice". I told him, "you CAN get lemon juice from lemons!".
The MANAGER of Migas' reply was:
"I know you. You are the owner of those restaurants. Why don't you come work for me as a waiter, and then you can squeeze your own juice!".... I was too dumb-struck and shocked to even come up with a reply.
I would REALLY like an explanation from the owner(s) of Migas regarding their staff's behaviour. Yes, this is Beijing. Yes, we are used to bad customer service, but THIS? And coming from a foreign manager of one of the supposedly 'award-winning' restaurants of Beijing ?
Owners, Please reply to me. Your manager has my name card. To the rest who read this, feel free to base your own opinions about the place. Me, personally and everyone I know are not going back...

No no no NO !!
Last experience May 18 2011.
Excellent location. Horrible horrible HORRIBLE service.
Beverages out of stock (even though i could see them behind the waiter), RUDE staff, Card POS machine usage refusal by staff, , no fapios, and a not at all friendly "marketing manager.
The staff wsnt even listening to her, even though she tried getting their attention.
One waiter pointing to the one next to him "talk to that one". "that one" pointing to the same guy, saying "I am busy".
I gave my contact info to the marketing manager, saying please get in touch with the management and let me know, if something will happen with the appalling service. I didn't get any emails from her, instead started getting spammed by promotional emails!
From one hospitality person to another, FIX YOUR PLACE!
Did i mention, 90rmb for a shot of watered down fake Don Julio Reposado !

Great Valentine's Day Dinner
This was our first time here and we really enjoyed it. They had a Valentine's set menu for 700RMB for two, including a glass of Mumm's, which while not cheap was a better value than most of the surrounding venues for Valentine's Day.
We both loved the food, especially the Wagyu beef carpaccio. The low point was pigeon ravioli, which wasn't bad but neither of us really cared for it. But hey, at least I can tell people "I ate pigeon ravioli!". The presentation of all the dishes was very nice, and they have a very interesting wine list, very heavy on Spanish wines which I've always thought were under-rated.
The manager was very helpful and hospitable, which I always appreciate. In fact, I've noticed that I'm usually motivated to write a review only if I've had a good experience with the management. I guess I figure if they'll go out of their way to help us enjoy our visit, I can go out of my way to write a public review.
Personally, I liked the decor, although they had one long communal-looking table that I think would have put us a little too close to our neighbors if we'd had to sit there.
Finally, the signs on the restroom doors are pretty funny and clever. Be sure to check them out when you go.

Great drinks
Really like the outdoor roof in summer. When it gets nearer to sunrise and youre running out of money, they do some cheap beijing local bottles of beer.

Just hope there is no fire...
25 minute wait for a lift to get up there. You cant walk up the stairs cause there are large metal grates blocking the stairs in Nali on the 4th floor. The lifts hold only a few people before they are overweight and stopped on level 5 (which is deserted and locked) and we had to get off to stop the overweight warning buzzer sounding. A half hour wait for a lift as every one was full before climbing over a fence and a potential fight with the Staff at Fez Bar whilst pleading to be let out.
Finally get up there and its full of the pretentious set sipping massivley overpriced drinks wearing oversized sunglasses in the dark.
A quick about face to leave followed by another 25 minute wait to get a lift down (no stairs remember??)Someone used some serious guanxi to get this place approved. Its a disaster waiting to happen...and its very very average.
Never again.

Sorry guys, this is not it
What a pity and disappointed expectations in the restaurant:
Food only average, nothing really special, and several dishes on the menu not available even early on a Friday evening with only a few guests in the restaurant.
Desert menu: 60% not available. Then ordered a TIRAMISU, which consisted of crushed Orio cookies drowned in undefinable sweet sauce and tasteless spray whipped cream on top - don't try it, all 3 of us left it nearly untouched.
At least they can issue Fapiao now, which was not the case before.
Rooftop terrace for drinks is a nice location, though no food would be served there to us, not even snacks.

Migas CLOSED?
It's closed?! What's going on here? Seems nobody's working, no guests, no explanation?

Seriously not bad
The decor is nice and unique.
The service, well, the waiters and waitresses seems a bit blur but overall acceptable.
Price are very reasonable, as usually a risotto will costs like 200 bucks or more, but they set at 70 bucks by giving smaller portion which i personally think its better so that we can try other good stuff of theirs.
Quality of foods, well, we really like it, very special, simple ingredient but the chef is good enough to make it taste good. love it.

Cheap is always expensive.
We went there for the set lunch deal.
We got the worst service ever. The food didn´t came at the same time, not cutlery for the main courses, not water.
I ordered the potato soup....... not spoon and the soup was just warm and tasteless.
I was surprise the way they wrote the name of the risotto (with wagyu beef !!) sorry..... wagyu beef for a set lunch 2x1??
I tried the risotto.....the portion was just ridiculous for a main course, not beef taste......
We went there because i heard some good comments about it.
Honestly we left the restaurant very disappointed about the food and the service it seems like nobody is in charge of this place.
Will not be back even if it´s for free.

Eat Here, Love
With the weather turning colder, I was already missing long summer nights of great music and drinks on the Migas terrace, a happy new addition to our quality of life here in Beijing that I could only dream of when I first arrived 5 years ago, before the Village and Nali Patio sprung from the dust. And so, those egg-seats were becoming a wonderfully wine-filled home from home... that is, until I actually tried the food downstairs, and realized that I have found even more reasons to return to the 6th floor of Nali patio :)The three-course set lunch menu was perfectly proportioned, the textures absolutely complimentary. I started with pasta vegetables with a Spanish twist of stuffed Olives and tomato, of which I could happily have eaten bowl-fulls more, that is until I set eyes on the next course, a decent sized chunk of sea bass, topped with tangerines. YUM. Finally, after such a healthy start, I gave in to the scrumcious chocolate mousse, in just the perfect amount to end three courses with, leaving me completely content, not the kind of greasy-stuffed full you often get at joints with bigger portions and less imagination. And complimentary to the truly lovely meal was the unconditionally friendly service - A for effort from the sunshine waitress and highly efficient Maitre-D... Overall I was thoroughly impressed and am looking forward to working my way down the autumn-winter friendly menu that all looks mouth-watering and unique!

Think of it as a place to do much more than eating.
I know that the price of living is getting crazy here in the Jing, but people, if you want cheap food and cheap beer, go to Jinkelong and stay in the street!
Now, for those who are willing to have a nice time Migas is a good choice for having a romantic dinner or to enjoy a drink with friends.
For me, the best about Migas is THE MUSIC, after the joy of seeing White Rabbit and Lantern closed I think that the music in Migas is definitely a turn towards improving Beijing's night scene.
Let's see what these guys do during the cold winter.

GREAT new tapas in Beijing
Some of the best tapas in the city. Tried Migas recently after being underwhelmed by other wine and tapas a few floors below.
The space is hardcore "industrial chic" but surprisingly comfortable. It's a great option for a tapas restaurant thats more fun rather than quiet and subdued.
The wine list ranges from under 200 to under 20000, but regardless of what you pick even the cheaper bottles are really good.
The tapas fall into different categories and offer a long list with plenty to try and for any price. They have a delicious manchego cheese (Spanish, sheeps milk), perfectly cooked and seasoned shrimp, and several croquettes that are hot and crispy with different fillings- the ham and cheese is perfect after a few glasses of wine. It's a great place that you can spend anywhere from a little to a lot depending on the number and types of tapas you go for.

The WORST dining experience that I have ever had in Beijing
Where to start...
Decor looks like the inside of a Cold War nuclear bunker.
Service is lousy, it took me 20 minutes of hand waving, nihao-ing, fuwuyuaning etc. from when I sat down at the table just to order a beer. And I only got it in the end by going up to the bar (luckily didnt have to pour it myself but thought it might come to that).
Food is overpriced and not that great at all.
Could not provide fapiao and was surly when questioned about it. As though I was asking for something out of the ordinary, rather than simply asking them to conform to the law. They promised to send it to me later but did not.
Best of all, myself and my housemate were suffering from acute food poisoning the next day. Yay.
This is the first time that I have ever complained on this or any other website, because usually I cannot be bothered too much. But the experience was so shocking that I just had to warn anyone else not to pay over the odds for poor food, service and atmosphere and get free laduzi.

Great place. Do not miss the sukling pig & rices.
Love the place.
Try anything they cook in the oven...aromatic lamb shoulder, pork ribs or the sukling baby pig. It just melts in your mouth.
The selection of rices is also fabolous. Amazing wines and a great rooftop to relax, enjoy before is too cold.
Last but not least: warm and super attentive service. Eduardo is a fantastic host.

great outdoor patio and great food
I agree with the previous posters' comments - very cool rooftop patio! The food was great and the service wasn't half-bad either - this is definitely a place you should check out.

Terrific Terrace
With a terrace like Migas’ you can’t go wrong. Even as the temperature drops here in Beijing, having a central terrace in Sanlitun that isn’t Kokomo is nothing but a bonus. Beyond that the drinks are decent but you can tell that there are some growing pains to endure which is inevitable for any new place. The tapas that I’ve tried were spot on and I’m excited to try their mains sometime soon. Couple that with a great laid back Spanish atmosphere and great lounge music, come next spring I know where I’ll be spending most of my time.

Best terrace of 2010 in Beijing
I'm wondering why nobody has reviewed this place...
For me so far this is the best terrace in Beijing, less chic than the beach, more stylish than kokomo, and they play much better lounge music. Actually 2 weeks ago El'Mar wasn't at his terrace but killing time at his competitor's terrace.
But... Mojito! They made bad Mojito! Maybe I was unlucky, but since that night I decided only order Gin tonic or Cuba Libra. Seriously, I wanted to write them the recipe of Mojito, they have things missing in the glass...
