I thought it was great!

It's nice to get away from the same old fried food. The food is always fresh, always amazing and the service is great. I wish it was cheaper (I can get food around the corner fo SOO cheap but it's pure crap... but it's SOO cheap).
Anyway, The food is great here. I would list my fav dishes but thay have all been good and I don't remember what they are called. I would say that the portions aren't huge but 2 dishes with rice or bread is plenty for 2 very hungry people.
It's nice to have some healthy/fresh food that is still full of flavor.

I should note that they are closed for a couple of hours between lunch and dinner (I think 2-5pm but don't take my word for it. I have not made it yet to lunch but I hear it's the best deal

Good food but according to their site they have problems paying their bills!!

Living in the UK,I often keep frequenting China & Beijing in particular.Being a devot muslim and very strict about halal food,I have always had reservations about the so-called HALAL Indian restaurants. Thanks to the management of the Mughal my problem has been solved in as much as a halal muslim eatery in form of Mughal with their excellent food is there.
Great food,keep it up Mughal.

I am a huge fan of Indian food, but I am weary of some Indian restaurants. My first exposure to Indian cuisine was my best friend's mother's cooking and she was a damn good cook, so I compare everybody's cooking to hers.

Anyway, I hang out in Sanlitun a lot at night, and this place is crowded every time so I could tell that they got some good food here. I finally booked a reservation with my best friend to eat here and the food did not disappoint.

Both my friend and I are curry crazy, so we were really happy that the restaurant offered curries with such diverse tastes. I know it’s been said before, but each curry tastes different here.

I ordered just one lamb curry and it was so delicious and flavorful that I couldn't even finish it, no matter how much I wanted to. It came with garlic nan that was so good, I want to steal the recipe but I dont think the cook would give it to me. 

Curry crazy people go here!

Taught me what Indian Food is...

This place is pretty yummy. I feel like this was the restaurant that taught me what Indian Food is supposed to taste like. The food was very flavorful and spicy. Loved their Mango Lassi!

It's a little on the difficult to find side, but if you'd like some really good indian food, at a reasonable price, this is the spot.

A very good indian restaurant

I like Mughals for three reasons: the manager or his wife are always in the restaurant (it's a family restaurant), the food is very good, and lastly they use less oil so I feel 'lighter' after eating there.

If you like Indian food then you like curry and if you like curry then you'll like Mughal’s. I’m partial to the lamb curry because it has a richer meat taste than the others. Nan is absolutely essential to mop up the amazing sauce left over. The biryani (sp) rice has an incredible aroma and taste. I don’t like lassi but their tea is nice. What I like most about the food is that it is authentic in taste but lacking in the copious amounts of oil usually found in Indian food. MSG doesn’t effect me like I have heard it does others but I pretty sure it’s not good for you so I’m happy that Indian doesn’t use MSG. In other words, it's Indian fare for the health conscious. No I can eat my favorite curries relatively guilt free.

Love the curry, rooftop

There are plenty of Indian choices here in Beijing (as demonstrated by the adverts on every Beijing English language website) but for me Mughals will always be my first choice. That’s not to say that I don’t like some of the others, just that I think as an overall package, Mughals is the best. First, I am convinced that their curry would beat any other in a side by side taste test. Each curry tastes different as it should. The only example I can think of is the difference, or lack thereof, between kungpao chicken and kungpao shrimp. The sauce tastes the exact same in both but it wouldn’t if the chicken or shrimp were cooked along with the sauce (instead of making batches of sauce and adding the meat as a last step.). When I order lamb I want lamb, and when I want fiery lamb vindaloo, I want spicy lamb vindaloo not spicy chicken vindaloo with “Chinese characteristics.”
Second, unlike much of Indian cuisine, Mughal’s has cut down on the oil. I get enough oil in China without getting it again in my Indian food.
Third, I like the new location on the roof of Nali Patio. It’s autumn and the time of the year for me to spend those remaining weeks outside before the harsh weather arrives. The roof of Nali Patio is the perfect place. They also have seating outside but under roof as well as indoors.
My personal recommendations: samosas to get warmed up, lamb vindaloo for spice, garlic nan bread to dip in the sauce, mango lassis to cut the spice, and papaya kulfi dessert to finish the meal.

Worth trying...

A small cozy restaurant. Their lamb buna and Samoosa are worth trying. The nan breads also nice & crispy.

Great deal, tasty food!

Went to Mughals for lunch today and had a great lunch, don't remember the name of the dishes but they had about 10 dishes, ranging from some salads to curry and several meat dishes. The samosas were very good, and the nan is made when you get there so it is very fresh and warm. All the food was very tasty. If you like spicy certain dishes here have a lot of kick to it. Whats even better is that now the lunch buffet is buy one get one free. So 2 people can eat for 45rmb!

RE: Fake Reviews

I think it is not fair to said it was fake review by others when every individual has its own unique taste, I tried Rumi and I did not like it at all, neither did my 3 other friends, and I tried Mughal, and they like it and think that the bosses and waiters are friendly enough.

I think such strong negative review is fake by itself and most probably created by Mughal's competitor and feel sorry for such loser.

There are something to be improved by Mughal I reckon, like the decor and the smell in the restaurant, and also more varieties of food like Bryani lamb should be included in the menu, other than that, they are doing alright.

below average taste

I was happily surprised to find this restaurant on the 4th floor of Nali Patio in Sanlitun. The food is lovely and the restaurant has a very nice design. It's simple & small but yet elegant. I have been there now for both lunch and dinner and was very pleased with their Freshly prepared Express Lunch and the selections of curries on the menu. Try the Matar Paneer, Lamb Saag, or Reshami Kebab all very nicely spiced and cooked. It's a restaurant with nice decoration, Good food and rightly priced menu.

Thumbs up!

It's my favorite Indian/Pakistani restaurant in Beijing. Since my first visit back in NovemberTheir food and service has always been very consistent. Their Lamb Vindaloo, Prawn Tikka Masala and Mango Lassi are my favorite items.

Good Curries

Based on recommendation by a fellow Indian Colleague, we had a dinner at Mughals last week. Illuminated by the warm lighting of handmade brass lamps and Yellow and white interiors Mughal’s is a Nice addition to the Sanlitun's food scene. The chefs at Mughal’s seems well trained as they serve quality, fresh and rightly spiced dishes.
The Chicken Seekh Kebabs are tender, juicy and mildly spiced without killing the natural flavour of the meat. Mutton Mali Boti are grilled skewers with a very creamy yet spicy taste and is a highly recommended starter. The restaurant's Prawn Tikka Masala was perfectly cooked and has a nice aromatic sauce. The Chicken Vindaloo was juicy and has the right spicy kick. The desserts menu is small but nonetheless packs a punch. The Mango Kulfi (Indian Ice Cream) sprinkled with pistachios is worth trying. The wait staff are polite and prompt in service. The only thing missing is good wine (they don't have wines on the menu but you can bring your own wine without cover charge).

We shall be visiting this place again soon……(with our wine off course)

Visited Mugal Restaurant with friends last evening. The restaurant interior is nicely done. Small yet very warm, decorated with rich sensual colors. It also offers rooftop seating during the summer months.

We ordered Mince samosas, Chicken Biryani, Daal, Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter nan. They have a smallar version of samosa but it was crispy with nice tasty filling. The Chicken Biryani was also very good. Chicken Tikka Masala was Just superb. Daal was a bit spicy for me but tasted very well with the Sesame Butter nan. In short the food was very nice and surely going to please the people with a liking for Indian food.

A place with good atmosphere, mouth watering food and decent service, we will definitely be visiting again.
