Obiwan

With a large roof terrace overlooking placid Xihai (Houhai’s sleepier cousin), Obiwan is a natty little bar in which to unravel away an afternoon and make a night of it. The bar is expansive but not expensive and the selection is varied, from Tsingtao (RMB 10) to a cheeky Campari and soda (RMB 35).

Location

  • Houhai 后海
  • 4 Xihai Xiyan (300m from Jishuitan subway station), Xicheng District
  • 西城区西海西沿4号
  • Mon-Fri 1pm-2am, Sat-Sun 1pm-late
  • 8322 1231

Sunday afternoon at Xihai is a must!

If you can find the place you will amply rewarded with a unique Beijing experience.

Sunday is the best time to go. Why?

Free (while they last) drumsticks hot off the outdoor grill and no fake booze.

10 kuai Qingdao bottles are no longer on offer. Beer starts at 15 then slides to 20 Kaui on weekends. Tiger and draft is on offer, I recommend the consistently excellent mojito's.

All in all the lake, and the tasty bbq make for a perfect Sunday afternoon. Some nice dub and reggae from the Meiwenti crew add to the 'on vacation' vibe.

Best Mojito I´ve had so far in Beijing. Real rum, real mint, real lime, really good...

Easy going easy drinking, great place to talk

This place has it all, it cheap yet class. Quiet yet loud. Exotic yet homely. I love the view form the terrace. The crowd here is very friendly.
