Pretty good pies, but incredibly expensive

My rating is the average of four stars for taste and 0.5 stars for price.

I've been wanting to try these, and finally had the chance recently. The razzleberry was very good, and the key lime was too, though it could stand to be a little more tart.

However, they are prohibitively expensive. 249RMB is outrageous for one pie. I'd never pay $38 for a single pie back home, and it's hard to justify here. I suspect they're not overcharging; there probably just aren't a lot of cost efficiencies in a business like this.

On the one hand, I'm glad they're here, their product's good, and I hope they make it. On the other hand, I can't see paying these exorbitant prices except maybe for an extremely special occasion.

    Coconut cream pie something lacking

the coconut cream pie was really fresh and whipped, pudding was perfectly mad excellent ingredients but something about it just didn't pull together completely, maybe i needed it to be sweeter...maybe it is just me, others have loved it...but for me it was good but not great, better than any I have had, a really well made pie, so maybe I am just not a coconut cream pie fan and just didn't realize it. or maybe i should have let it chill more in the fridge.

Chinese usually do not like pies , but these pies are very good .The lemon pie is my favorite .The chocolate pie is very rich , but if you like chocoate you will love it

    Tartlets Nice Too

Ordered some of their tartlets several weeks ago, which were very yummy.

They were kind enough to let me get a half and half order of fruit tartlets and chocolate tartlets, 10 of each for 149 (the same price as several of their pies). I was worried that the banana cream, coconut cream or french chocolate would be too rich to go with the light supper I was having, and the tartlets were certainly a serviceable alternative.

Ordered in the afternoon for the evening, and delivery was very prompt.

But perhaps the best thing about Pie House is their pie blog, where they blog about pie in Chinese and English. Barak Obama's obsession with pie is at last newsworthy to someone other than me.

We had the pleasure of sampling the apple pie and banana cream pie in our office the other week and loved them - these are authentic, delicious American style homemade pies. The ingredients were fresh and the crust was perfectly flaky. Recommend this one for birthday treats with a twist.
