"The Place" is certainly a weird name to get used to, but it aptly fits as it's hard to describe in a few words. The shops there are interesting to walk around in, to be sure. But by far, the showpiece of this "place" is the giant LCD screen at night. It cycles through a few scenes, I'm told, but I only saw the one with the Avatarish floating mountains.

There was a lot I didn't see of the Place, but one part I can comment on first-hand is the buffet (the name is escaping me at the moment). It was HUGE, having several different sections from different parts of the world and you could eat all you want of the unusually tasty food. The Tai and Indian food there especially rocked my socks.
