Three Trees Cafe 三棵树

With no English sign and three large trees obscuring the entrance (hence the name), it’s easy to wander by the Three Trees Cafe without noticing. One of the first cafes to open on Nanluogu Xiang, this tranquil café set the guidelines for the NLGX café style bible by offering a comfortable living room style atmosphere and a menu featuring Western bites (salad, pizza and sandwiches) and delightful drinks such as Rose flavored milk tea (RMB 35) that comes decorated with little rose buds.

Incredible Overpriced for Bad Quality

One star for the setting. Sit in the window and stare at the tourist crowds. It is something between cozy and a backyard selling. We sat in a small room with lots of wooden furniture. My seat was dirty and had no cushions. We ordered a lemon tea and an iced coffee. Both 35 Yuan (remember it was 30 Yuan for the iced coffee but they insisted on 35.) What we got was: Lemon tea from instant powder with one slim slice of lemon and an instant coffee (or old coffee) with condensed milk. We left after 10minutes drinking only a horrible sip.
NLGX became a busy place with bus loads of cheep tourists. The eateries changed to fast food stalls and the cafes sell expensive instant "drinks". I will not return to the Three Trees and try to avoid the whole damn street.

nice atmosphere

sitting in the cafe now, at a cute little wooden table with big windows which look out onto nanlouguoxiang for some people watching. there's also some nice couch seating with cozier lighting inside. good cappucino, nice staff. adequate wifi. predominately chinese haunt, from wut i can see so far. nice music, very pleasant ambience overall. ooh! and i just found an outlet right by my table! woohoo!
