Complete with waitresses in milkmaid dresses and a stage set for live music, this is a cheery west side appropriation of Drei Kronen 1308. Sad to say, but if you live in Chaoyang, Uhland isn’t really worth your trouble. They do make two very drinkable beers on site (light and dark, available in 300ml to 1 liter glasses), which are cheaper than Drei Kronen’s admittedly quality brews. Unfortunately, the cab fare will wipe out your saving. However, if you live around Wudaokou or Zhongguancun, Uhland is well worth an evening of your life. It’s not going to be the rowdiest night out, but you’ll have fun. As well as the home brew and various imported German beers, the massive pork knuckle seems popular among the mostly local crowd.
