The most horrible place in town°!

Review of Lantern
1 out of 5 stars

Friday night the croud wants to have a good night out and enjoy some electro music. Everybody is preparing to have a blast and forget the stress from the hard working week. You are picking Lantern club as destination. Doesn't matter, that taxidrivers cant properly find it and you have to put in a lot of effort telling exactly where to stop;
doesn't matter, that your shoes are all in sand, while you try to climb through a little hole in a fence;
doesn't matter, that you are almost falling down on slippery stairs and trying to make your way through some "drunk-high" zombies;
doesn't matter, you look in a cloakroom with barely no jackets;
doesn't matter, you pay 100 cover fee for an empty club with medium famous DJ and get fake over prized alcohol;
doesn't matter, you are nearly throwing up when you see dirty, disgusting toilets without no toilet paper;
but what really does matter are the HORRIBLY RUDE promoters and staff.

Spoiled night!!!!! Never going back there again

Eat here only if you want a side of SCAM with your meal....

Review of Xian Lao Man
1 out of 5 stars

Some friends of mine were victims of an attempted scam that was supported by the owner and staff of the branch of Xian Lao Man close to Andingmen. A group of scam artists accused a woman in their group of shutting an elderly lady's hand in the door of the restaurant, and tried to make her give them money to pay for the hospital expenses. I arrived later after my friends called me to help out, as the scammers were on cell phones, and my friends were worried that they were dialing up acquaintance to get them to come and intimidate my friends into paying money. I suggested that we should just leave, as the scammers were obviously full of sh*t. However, when we went to walk out the door, the boss of the restaurant told one of her waiters to shut the door and lock it to keep us from leaving. To make a long story short, after several hours of f*&king around with the scammers, the owner, her staff, and eventually the police, we were able to leave the restaurant.

Dissappointment has a new friend

Review of Cornerstone
1 out of 5 stars

From the near empty wine by the glass to the near empty menu of mismatched foods.

Nice decor, nice staff. But it's not even worth visiting to see how bad it is.

Easily the best in town - definitely try them

Review of Jinshisong.com Beijing Food Delivery
5 out of 5 stars

I've used a number of different home delivery services, with a varying degree of experiences.

Decided to try these guys about six weeks ago and have been using them ever since.

Good range of restaurants, excellent website, good delivery drivers (almost as good as the Gungho! guys)

The customer service however, is brilliant. Tonight I forgot to order rice for an indian order (Taj Pavillion - so good). Called as soon as I remembered. They called back to say the driver had left but that they reckon the order really needed it so they insisted on sending him back to pick up!

Hard to find that in HK, Aust, NY, and so on

If you don't feel like braving the cold and/or a Beijing street scene, this is a great alternative

DON'T GO HERE

Review of Pyro Pizza
1 out of 5 stars

I also ordered Buffalo wings with almost zero sauce. I took a picture too. I then had to pay extra money just to put a little more sauce on them. 90 rmb is already a ridiculous price to pay for chicken in China. IT IS JUST A SCAM. DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE.

I also made the mistake of ordering a Long Island Iced Tea...one of the strongest drinks in the world with 5 shots of alcohol....well it was basically a glass of water with a lime. The worst LI Iced Tea I've ever had in 50 years.

I was there for dinner from 6pm-8pm....there were only 2 other customers. I will keep going back to La Bamba and Helens.

Very relaxing

Review of Hummingbird Therapeutic Retreat
5 out of 5 stars

I don't go to this Hummingbird much now that they've opened up their new location. Since it's still in Central Park it doesn't make much difference to me anyway, but I go to the new one since it's bigger. The original "Hummingbird Therapeutic Retreat" is still good for the money - the masseuses know what they're doing and the staff speak english well. It's very western... good quality service, clean, relaxing. Brought my mom here, she raves about the lemongrass oil massage.

Cozy spot

Review of Livewell
5 out of 5 stars

Very decent food, and the prices don't gouge. After being a bit disappointed by Jamaica Blue's highly touted quiches, I was very happy to find Livewell's bacon quiches... at about 20RMB to Jamaica Blue's 30RMB, these quiches are cheesier and more bacon-y and much more satisfying. The chicken avocado salad is worth coming back to if you're in the area. Very good smoothies as well, all in all very happy with my experiences with Livewell. Comfortable hang out and healthy food, can't ask for more.

Review of Three Trees Cafe
4 out of 5 stars

sitting in the cafe now, at a cute little wooden table with big windows which look out onto nanlouguoxiang for some people watching. there's also some nice couch seating with cozier lighting inside. good cappucino, nice staff. adequate wifi. predominately chinese haunt, from wut i can see so far. nice music, very pleasant ambience overall. ooh! and i just found an outlet right by my table! woohoo!

Watered down?

Review of Paddy O'Shea's
3 out of 5 stars

We went today for dinner and beers. Happily surprised with the selection of beers as well as with the atmosphere. Being able to order from Ganges was an absolute plus. The only problem (other than the cold, since its not very well isolated) was when the beers came to the table. Both Kelkeny beers seemed to be VERY watered down. I would probably go back again, but when the weather is better and I will stick to local cheap beers. 3 stars because I want to think this is not the usual stuff.
