Crescent Moon Muslim Restaurant 弯弯的月亮

This clean, atmospheric neighborhood dive is possibly the best in town. From the homemade yogurt (RMB 3) and the all-Uighur staff to the king of mutton chuan’r (RMB 5), this courtyard-nestled gem is as authentic as it gets.

Neighborhood dive doesnt really describe this place well. It is clean, well kept, and attracts a higher class clientele.
The atmosphere is good with a central asian feel. The persian influenced dome looks a little strange in the hutong but once inside the effect is very nice.
The food is pricy. Yangrouchuanr are now 6 kuai, nang is 5, suan nai is 8, and many dishes are over 40 kuai, but it is well worth it.
The style is very traditional Xinjiang, Uigur. You wont find things dressed up with a lot of extra hot pepper. The pollao (shuozhuafan) is quiet good and not just the "house fried rice" as it is in many pretender Xinjiang places.
