RMB 50

Pojie Arts has set up No Lights No Lycra in Beijing in order to extend the event, which already runs in Shanghai and Hong Kong, to the capital. Dancers pay 50 RMB each time they come, we've found that people slot it in in place of an evening jog or an exercise class. A great workout for the body and a wonder for the mind and soul; one hour to move around in whichever way you wish, in the dark, to a mixed playlist that always includes classics and some favourite cheesy tracks! It's a fortnightly event at Modernsky Lab.

Where the money from NLNL is going:

Pojie Arts intends for NLNL to be a small but regular funding stream to support Beijing provision. In Beijing, Pojie Arts runs two weekly movement workshops for adults with intellectual disabilities. These workshops offer a way out of social isolation for some and also provide an opportunity to develop communication skills and self-confidence, to grow in independence in a safe and creative environment. Pojie Arts' performance group also runs off donations. The inclusive performance group is made up of people with and without disabilities and makes work in partnership with arts institutions and galleries.

100% of the money raised from each NLNL event goes to supporting these workshops in Beijing.

About NLNL:

- is a place for people to come and dance freely in a friendly, non-threatening, drug and alcohol free atmosphere.

- is an event that occurs in a dimly lit room: with the lights low people can truly dance without worrying about what they look like.

- is a time to dance independently in the company of others – in order for people to truly lose themselves in the music it is important to keep talking to a minimum.

- is not about technique and being a ‘good’ dancer, it’s about the experience of dancing with no one watching and the joy that this brings.

- is a place to exercise at your own pace while having fun.

- promotes a healthy mind and a healthy body.

- is about making dance accessible for everyone.

- is inclusive and open to all ages, genders, backgrounds and demographics.

- is a place to shake out the stresses of the week, let go of your inhibitions and completely be yourself.
