The early Baroque classic opera Orfeo comes to Beijing, telling the story of Orpheus, the Greek hero who could soothe savage beasts with the power of his song. This opera has been performed since 1607 and underwent a revival in the early 20th century. The composer, Monteverdi, is regarded as one of the most important transitional figures between Renaissance and Baroque music. Only the instrumental portion of the score will be performed.
