Brothers Moving Plus

gt/voc: Peter Murchison

harp/voc: Randy Abel

cello/voc: Heike Kagler (guest)

Frontmen for 2 of Beijing's best traditional American music bands, Peter Murchison and Randy Abel team up for a set of Americana folk, blues, country and honky tonk. Heike will join on cello and vocals to round out a unique sound!

Peter Murchison's music is a melting pot of blues, bluegrass, and folk... but mostly old, old blues. His guitar fingerpicking style is crisp and driving. He is older than dirt.

Randy Abel was born several times as the mood, and several strangers, struck him. The classic masters of country, honky tonk and blues emit from him the same way a pound of ripe blueberries flung at a screen door emit both the blues and a generally sticky mess.

Heike Kagler is Beijing's most versatile cello player - from classical to folk-rock and bluegrass. She is able to tolerate Randy and Peter for up to an hour at a time.

Zhen Ren Plus Plus

Guitar/slide guitar/vocal: Peter Murchison

Guitar: Richard Barnes

Harp: Zhang Xiaosong

Bass: Jon Heeter (guest)

Zhen Ren is Beijing's only band playing pre-war traditional American blues. Jon Heeter of the Beijing Dead will join for a truly thumping good set! More jamming, more Freedom!

They will play the music of Robert Johnson, Blind Blake and others. They combine country blues acoustic guitar and harmonica with modern electric guitar and electric slide guitar. Zhen Ren is Peter Murchison on guitar, slide guitar and vocals, Zhang Xiao Song on blues harmonica, and Richard Barnes on electric guitar. With Jon Heeter joining on bass, this set will rock out and likely steal your face!
