Some Monday night inspiration ~

This upcoming Monday night we invite you to our casual spontaneous meeting with Dagadana a world music band, who are flying to Beijing next week, right after a few world music festivals and recent WOMEX.

These inspiring 4 young but established musicians (and just great guys) would love to meet with the Beijing community and share their behind-the-scenes stories of the travelling music band, some inspiration and of course make some music with us together.

Bring your musical instrument (or anything that makes noise!) to jam and sing with the musicians!

About Dagadana

For the past eight years DAGADANA have triumphantly merged elements of Polish and Ukrainian culture through jazz, electronic and world music. The band incorporates traditional folk melodies which are set to words of traditional songs, modern poetry, and lyrics, finding their inspiration at ethnic music workshops, among their families and friends, as well as their bookshelves. Their approach to performing and recording music includes the use of vocals sang through voice processors, trance, jazz acoustic bass influences, and various musical instruments (from piano and violin to toys). The band have embraced what tends to be overlooked today.

Their latest record “Meridian 68" collects traditional songs from many regions of Poland as well as Ukrainian folk music. And there’s an exceptional piece recorded in Chinese - Kanding Qingge - a song The Eastern influence is the result of an encounter with extraordinary musicians - Hasibagen from Mongolia and Aiys Song from China - during DAGADANA’s visit to Beijing. The “Meridian 68” album hit #8 at prestigious World Music Charts Europe and #14 at Transglobal World Music Charts.
