Looking back to move forward, that is Sankofa. This Black History month, BLK GEN wanted to highlight the journeys that have shaped and are shaping Africa and the black diaspora, while also paying homage to the unique art of that is spoken word. Spoken word is the rhythmic and more potent literary sibling to standard poetry and has been used as a medium for creativity and activism throughout communities across the world, especially within the black community. Sankofa brings together artist from across Beijing for a night in celebration and recognition of Black history. With live performances of spoken word, song and instrumental art, Sankofa is sure to be a night to remember! Come celebrate the talents within our community as we continue to strengthen pan-African unity and build greater opportunities toward progress in equality.
