A young and promising jazz guitarist/composer of
China, Jun Xiao was born in Dali,Yunnan Province in
1990. He showed great interests in playing guitar and
started to learn rock guitar by himself at the age of 9.
Jun was then admitted into Shanghai Conservatory of
Music when he was 19, majoring in jazz guitar
studying from Professor Jiwen Liao.
• During his undergraduate, Jun participated some
concerts as a member of Shanghai Conservatory Big
Band such as Shanghai Jazz Festival, Gene Aitken’s
Concerts and Eric Richards’s Concerts. Also, He played
in many concerts cooperating with the Shanghai
Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra,
China Philharmonic Orchestra, and Shanghai Theatre
Academy, which involved accompanying world famous
broadway singers Michael Ball and Miss Saigon-Lea
Salonga. At the same time, his bands played regularly in
clubs such as the Shanghai 288 Club and the Yuncai
Club.
• In 2013, Jun became the spokesperson of American
guitar brand “Corbin” after graduating, and was involved
in recording work of Qin Dong’s Album “Not Mine”, which
was awarded the best jazz album of 2014 of China. In
summer of 2013, Jun’s Trio “Three Pacers” was invited to
Yunnan for a tour.
