The Collective, a nonprofit collaboration between Black Woman in Beijing, BLK GEN, Ambush Entertainment, the Caribbean Committee and Africa 2.0 is pleased to present Umoja. In Kiswahili, Umoja means oneness and unity and that is the spirit that this unique two-day event came from. Born out of the desire to bring WeChat conversations and connections to life and bring the larger community together, these five dynamic organizations have teamed up to bring you an amazing two-day event. Running from May 28th to 29th, this is an event that the community in Beijing, let alone China, has not yet seen!

PAMOJA
On Day 1, Sunday, May 28th, join us at 'Pamoja' for dialogue and artist expression. The night starts with a vibrant discussion, seeking to tackle some of the sticky questions about black identity and the question 'What does it take to be one community in China?" After a thoughtful discussion, some of the community's most talented artist will take to stage, highlighting the gifts and talents that are all around us.

The Picnic
On Day 2, Monday, May 29th, it is time for us to have 'The Picnic'. With games, good food, and good vibes, we will be bringing a little piece of home to Beijing. Come, experience the fellowship and unity the community has to offer. We will also feature a number of small business, so it is a great chance to build both community and your network. With some of the city's caterers pitching in this one great way to chill.
