Patrick Boucheron, professor at the Collège de France, directed the collective book “Histoire mondiale de France” (to be published in English in 2019 as "France in the world : a new global history"). At the time of its publication in 2017 in France, this book met a very great success and caused lively debates. It presents the History of France as marked by globalization, and highlights the European and international dimensions present in historical phenomena often considered until then as intrinsically French. This book has just been translated and published by the Chinese publisher Wipub.

Professor Qian Chengdan, dean of the Institute of World History at Peking University, has studied and compared the methods of many historians. In his article "What is global history," he points to both the methodological advantages and difficulties of global history. On the one hand, it makes it possible to overcome the limits of the purely vertical and centralist history of nation states, and to describe transnational phenomena more clearly. On the other hand, it must analyze and prioritize a very large amount of data, to the point that each historian could present a different global history.

How then can we use this approach to progressively and objectively enrich our vision of history?
