Yansha Outlets?
Anyone been out to that place they call the Yansha Outlets? Any bargains to be had? It's an awful long way to go, curious if it is worth the trip. A huge upgrade over Ya Show?

Re: Yansha Outlets?
I've been there and I didn't think it was that far from Chaoyang. However, I know not everyone lives in Chaoyang
! It is totally different from Ya Xiu in many ways. First, the quality seems exponentially higher while the selection is exponentially lower with a few notable exceptions. One exception is shoes. There were great bargains on a huge, huge selection of shoes. (I wear a 39/245). There were also good prices on really high quality underwear. Sometimes going through the disposable ""CK"" (note double quotes) 5RMB panties from Ya Xiu gets tiresome and you want something a little more....real? Another good selection (about equal to Ya Xiu, but still higher quality) could be found in the children's section. There is also a big book section of mostly Chinese titles. This was a great place to dump my husband while I shopped! I recall there was also a pretty big fur section. I did pick up a nice Denim Levi's brand dress from what appeared to be a legit Levi's outlet. I haven't seen anything like it at any market. I am afraid to commit to saying the things there are "real", but if they were fakes, what I consider a pretty well-honed shopping radar couldn't tell! I guess if you are from North America you would say Yansha is more like outlets "back home". Brand name shops, CK, GAP, Levi's, etc. that stock a far more limited selection than their non-outlet versions. There is a Subway franchise and Baskin Robbins on site. I couldn't tell you if there are any other eating establishments since these two were what I was hungry for that day! Across the parking lot is a huge Illinois store. The sales staff at Yansha and Illinois are totally passive, which is a nice and relaxing departure from typical BJ market shopping. In fact I don't think I heard a single word of English all day, with the exception of one quiet "hello". Overall, I spent the better part of a very relaxing Saturday there and came home with some good bargains that I don't think I could have found elsewhere. I'd say it's worth a trek.

Re: Yansha Outlets?
No subway, not sure of buses.
From that's Beijing:
BuyTheWay: Check it Outlet
Clothes shopping in China tends towards two extremes, one of which is the ever-popular bargain shopping with its ‘designer’ brands and appealing prices. However, broken zippers, frayed seams and lost buttons prove that the adrenalin thrill from paying rock-bottom prices tends to temporarily blind shoppers to the realities of poor craftsmanship. On the other end of this spectrum are the upscale brands in their upscale stores with their very, very upscale prices. Advertising itself as the first of its kind in China, the Yansha Outlets is trying to fill the considerable middle ground. With brands ranging from Armani to Adidas, Nautica to DKNY, Yansha has brought American-style outlet shopping to Beijing. Built like a department store broken into sections of style further subdivided by brand, the outlets contain clothing, home furnishing accessories, shoes and other trinkets. However, while Yansha’s best deals are the upscale outfits for work and more formal functions, don’t expect Silk Market prices with Oriental Plaza quality: a RMB 5000 cashmere jacket reduced by more than 60 per cent is still going to cost you RMB 1800.

Re: Yansha Outlets?
Definitely worth a visit. I got a Ozark winter coat with down inside for 850RMB and really light weight too. I am pleased with it. You have to spend a while looking around 'cos it is big and there's lots to see. Cant bargain there but some things are (relatively) cheap and probably really are the real McCoy but hey this is china so you can never tell... Clarks shoes had a pathetic selection to choose from, but you might find something if you're lucky. My advice is - go there once and see what it is like. Then you will know if you like it and it it is worth going there again.
There are so many places in Beijing that you wouldn't know were there unless someone told you about them. An example is Xiang1 he2 furniture market which is definitely worth a visit if you need furniture beds etc
To quote H.L. Mencken...
The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

Re: Yansha Outlets?
There are few factory outlets in Beijing where carry discounted branded clothes. Please take a look at following link if you read chinese.

I have been there once and I was quite disappointed. You will get better stuffs for much cheaper at the Zoo Clothing Wholesale Market or anywhere else. And it is quite a drive to get there!

Re: Yansha Outlets?
i find it even weird that people would try comparing yashow to the yansha outlet mall.. it's apples and oranges
yashow = fake designer clothes at rock-bottom prices but will fall about after the first wash
yansha = an 'outlet mall' just like in our countries..the real stuff but discounted because it's last years model or didn't sell well or for whatever reason..
..i gave up on shopping at yashow a couple years ago when i realized i was spending more in the long run than just buying a decent quality item in the first place... but i really like the yansha outlet mall.. of course you're gonna pay way more than buying a fake at yashow but you know you're getting the real thing and much cheaper than in the stores..i find it best for outdoor gear... hiking shoes, waterproof jackets, etc...some awesome deals if you're willing to sort through the crap to find that one buy.. i bought a really nice North Face jacket there for 600rmb once!

Re: Yansha Outlets?
In my experience prices at Yansha are not cheap. Everything is still more expensive than in America. I even saw some items that were still double to triple the price in the US.
Some items there are cheaper than retail stores in Beijing but not sure it's really worth the hassle of the trip.
If you know Chinese people, there are better places to buy legit, discounted clothing. There's one place on Xueyuan Nanlu before Weigongcun. Have bought discounted NOrth Face, Colombia, Nautica, Nike etc there. I've only seen another foreigner there once or twice.
They do not, however, have luxury brands at this place.

Re: Yansha Outlets?
Been to yansha outlets once and think the quality should be ok. At least those are the genuine ones I assume? You can really bargain there but they have good discounts.
When it comes to things require quality, like suitcase, handbag, or shoes, I'd just go there. But for clothes (except for sportswear), I wouldn't go - the models are pretty old and I think are suitable for ladies who are at least older than 50..

Re: Yansha Outlets?
The prices are definitely cheaper than most places except the US. That Burberry factory store had a lot of 50% off. Though still like at least 500RMB more expensive than the factory stores in the US.
Btw, that burger place at the Yansha outlets have some pretty good potato salads!
