Eudora Station opposite to Lido Place
Hi!
Does anybody of you know the Eudora Station opposite the Lido Place in the Chaoyang district? I came across it yesterday and had a very short glance inside. I didn't try the food or the service there but the Eudora Station seemed to me to be a decent place for eating out and for having a couple of drinks.
I also noticed the ads out front for their upcoming christmas event with christmas dinner and live music (very beautiful french singer Marine Griset). Since I'm still looking for a nice christmas party on Dec 24th, maybe this is an option.
Perhaps someone who has been there already can share the experience with us.
BTW: any other suggestions for a good event on christmas eve are most welcome!
Cheers!
J

Yeah, it's definitely a nice place, cozy. Too bad the food sucks.

I had a pretty good continental breakfast buffet there once ... coffee, danishes and the like

Goddamn, that's like a curse: whenever there's a cozy place around, the food sucks or vice-a-versa.
Well, however, I will give it a try next week. Maybe there is at least one dish on their menu that is ok. I'll keep you updated...
So long,

Ok, to be fair, I only ate there once and it was back in the spring. I had a really bad soup and sandwich. It's certainly possible they've improved since then.
Please let us know, because it is a nice atmosphere. If they could produce some quality in the kitchen I'd make it a point to go there.

Re: Eudora Station opposite to Lido Place
the place is very good. always busy at lunch times and in summer its packed.
food can go either way depending what u order, the burgers are GREAT the pizza so so the pasta is crap but the lunch buffet salad bar is awesome and u can pay 48 for the salad bar or 68 for the salad bar beverage and a choice of main meal.
good deal and there is enough past salads and meat selections in the salad bar to keep u happy with just that.

Good Burg’s eh? I have taken it upon myself to be the non-official burger baron of BJ and document the good and the bad of all the patty action in the capital. I’ll have to check it out.

chef, while you're at it, why not posting your best burger recipe for those of us who like to barbecue when it's snowing?

Hi all!
After starting this thread I went to the Eudora Station yesterday to check it out myself.
The place was busy, but not packed. I had a table with a cozy easy chair in the winter garden in the front part of the restaurant. The winter garden was heated with those pole radiators (I hope you know what I mean). Most of the guests were western - I noticed a lot of Americans and Germans around. The atmosphere was quite cozy with a lot of christmas decoration around.
But most important of all: the food. I had a goulash soup which was good and after that gnocchi in cheese which were so-so. I should have taken a pizza or a burger...
The Eudora Station has a long drink list with cocktails, bootled beer, draft beer and soft drinks. Prices were affordable. I had a Erdinger White that was 45 RMB - which is ok I think.
Well, it's too early to give a final rating since I only went there once till now. I'm going to check back there maybe this or next week to try a burger or a pizza.
Cheers,
J

Re: Eudora Station opposite to Lido Place
went for a burger at Eudora Station yesterday -- as much as I wanted to hate the place (they royally screwed us on breakfast during our that's Beijing ski trip in December), I thought the burger was excellent. RMB 35 gets you a decent burger, fries and some cole slaw -- nice touch was that they don't charge extra if you want cheese on it.
Can't vouch for the other food but if its a burger you are after and you're in the Lido area, get the cheeseburger. Hell, it's not even that more expensive than a trip to Mickey D's ...

Gave this place another try this week. And wow, that food does suck. Just goes to show you, if you have a nice environment and good location, you can pack your restaurant with people, serve them crap, and they will keep coming back.

Really a shame, I had high hopes once I gazed upon the beautiful environment but was latter smacked in the face with a crappy clubhouse sandwich and a wimpy Chinese style salad bar.
What a joke, they should be embarrassed of their horrible service…yet another Beijing flop.
