Visiting Churches in Beijing

I want to visit some of the Churches in Beijing as a tourist; St Joesph's Cathedral in Wangfujing, Xishiku Church in the North. Does anyone know the opening times/if I can visit them....any information would be greatly appreciated.

According to the info above, the opening time for St Joesph's Cathedral in Wangfujing is every morning; for Xishiku, 5:00~18:00

Re: Visiting Churches in Beijing

Which good guy translated part of my posts? Thank you. Only one typo: it should be "Xishiku" instead of "Xishikou".

Re: Visiting Churches in Beijing

that was me, sorry i didn't mean to edit your post but actually post a reply to your original thread. Ran out of energy before I finished translation though.

Re: Visiting Churches in Beijing

What about the BICF (Beijing International Christian Fellowship? It's English speaking and only foreign passport holders could get in (sanctioned for foreigner's religious gathering by the Chinese government)

Calling it a Fellowship is underestimating the congregation, there are 3,000+ attending the Sunday services at two locations.

It won't be surprised to see many ambassy people and international corporation senior management there... including those from United Airlines, Intel....

Re: Visiting Churches in Beijing

My friend wants to go to a church service this Sunday. Anybody know of any churches near Guanganmen (Xuanwu) which have services in English (if need be Chinese) and are open to foreigners and Chinese?

Where is the church and what time?

Are you suggesting this is a good place to network (where you can -- gasp -- simultaneously serve both God and mammon)?

Im afraid this is the nearest one:
宣武门教堂(南堂) 66037139 北京市西城区前门大街141号
乘地铁 102 105 109 特2 宣武门下车 开放时间 6:00~9:00

take subway, or bus 102 105 109 te2, get off at xuanwumen, open 6am-9am

If you start from guanganmen, take bus te7 and get off at xuanwumen

Happy New Year!

Re: Visiting Churches in Beijing

Are any of these in the Ritan park area.

Re: Visiting Churches in Beijing

Whats the real deal with regard to churches/religion and the authorities?

I am not at all religious so I dont frequent these places but some people I know, not in china, still seem to think there is a need for bibles and there is still 'difficulties' going on with respect to religions here.

Maybe I am opening up a can o' worms here? If I am, please can the moderator delete it and lets all go back to the normal safe topic of insult throwing.

To quote H.L. Mencken...
The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

@ocpaul20 - Please start a new thread for a new topic instead of derailing an existing thread. If you have nothing usefull to contribute to the topic at hand, refrain from adding clutter to an otherwise helpful thread.

Back to the topic at hand. Are there any churches in the Ritan park area? As you can tell, I am a little stressed and am need of a bit of serenity.

Re: Visiting Churches in Beijing

Re: Visiting Churches in Beijing

Teenage boys seem to really like the Stealth style by Rusty which features a cotton poly blend in a solid gun metal gray color. Also very popular are the Flag, Franklin and Marshall clothing Noise, Jet Stream, and Taped Off styles. Franklin and Marshall hoodies In total Rusty offers over ten different styles for their Hoodie Buddie type of sweatshirts. While they do not offer a separate line of wired hoodie for women there are many of the patterns for men that are quite suitable and attractive for women as well. However, the north face sale in their wired line they offer a junior style that seems to be uniquely designed for women only. You will see that the Swept Away model has a crushed velvet feel and comes in a soft gray color. The Basic style comes in beautiful lavender and looks wonderful on girls, the north face and High Voltage is a sleeveless pullover short dress for the girl on the go.
