Do anyone know this trading card game... i've looking the shop... if anyone know where to buy this stuff please tell me...

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

You can find a PC game store near Xisi selling Magic the Gathering and some other kinds of trading card games. Besides, do you play it often? I'm an enthusiast as well Tongue

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

u can buy fake ones everywhere.. (Xidan, Xiu Shui....) havent seen any original cards here tho.

I got nothing remotely intelligent or witty to say.

@reinkarnation
I dont think they are fake ones. The cards seem very well-made, and have laser anti-pirate symbols on them.

@semi
yeah, sure we can, but I donated my cards to my younger brother when I went to college. , so if your cards are as many as it could be played by two players, we could play it some day.

By the way, you said you're looking for one card. Do you mean you're seeking one valuable but rare card?

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

@pajamas
i agree MTG is hard to be faked....

hum sorry i just have a deck... no, i just want to by card single (ly) but i still look for about 10-15 card...

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

they are 100% fake.. at least the ones i saw.

i used to play Big Grin :D Big Grin , have tons of cards (last count was app.20000) but i dont know where exactly i left them. i think i have 2nd edition to the mercenaries deck (so kinda old school).

I got nothing remotely intelligent or witty to say.

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

Semislacker try the store in xidan. I got some cards there. They dont look fake to me. You can find its adress at wizards.com. It`s registered.
I have some cards here. If u wanna play just let me know.

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

walked past a store with magic-cards today. No idea if they had real or fake.
Facing drumtower walk left towards Jishuitan on Gulou Xidajie (?) for maybe 300-400m. it´s a small store on the left side.

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

Holograms are very easy to fake, thats why ID cards these days have a chip or RFID inside them.

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

hi,

I know a pair of shops where you can buy official cards for cheap and even play tournaments, we go there nearly each week with two american friends.

One of the shops is near Sanlitun but is so small and crowded that playing there is not such a good experience, the other one that is located in northwest Beijing, near Zhongguancun, is by far the most interesting one.
Unfortunately, I can't explain more their location as I've been in Beijing for less than 3 months and don't know very well the city.

If you are interested in playing with us, either for competition or casual gaming, feel free to drop me a private message and we'll figure a meeting.
Right now we are 3/4 in our little group : two american, one brasilian and one french guy (me).

By the way, FUTURE SIGHT is coming!!! i've seen most of the card and it's cool... they have new border for"timeshifted" card... and else...

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

Guys,

I suppose I'm sort of the 'Da Ge' of the foreign magic players here (hi Simbad! Long time no see!). Here's the deal on the magic scene:

The scene here is alive and well. There are lots of Chinese players in Beijing (including the 20th ranked player at Paris worlds this year) and a few of us Anglos who play as well. There are about 4 or so pretty decent shops around and a handful of others. There are regular tournaments, ranging from Friday Night Magic (usually draft here) to Pre-Releases (you guys missed it, it was last weekend) to PTQs.

Semislacker is right about the Shuang An Shi Chang shop, that is the oldest and best in Beijing. They have the largest collection of singles and the largest turnout for Friday night tournaments. The Xi Dan store is good as well, they regularly run Type 2 and Extended tournaments on the weekends. They also have a good selection of cards. The shop near Hou Hai was correctly located on Gu Lou Xi Da Jie. That shop is small and mainly focuses on basketball cards, but the owner, Lao Chen is just a super nice guy. Our group used to go to the Tuan Jie Hu store (in the Tian Yu Shi Chang) but it got sold and lost a lot of the good players that used to hang out there. These days we go to a shop off of Chao Yang Men Bei Xiao Jie in a small hutong called nei wu bu jie. If anyone wants to come play on Fridays, we'll be there. Come by around 530 and you are welcome to join.

I don't have all the contact details for the shops I mentioned, but I have them at home. If you guys are interested in that, let me know and I'll post it when I get home. There is also a website that the chinese players use, http://www.mtgchina.net

Happy gaming!

Oh, and the 'future shifted' cards look really messed up . . .

I vote against female genital shavealation . . . Unless it's Dex.

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

ive also been looking for legit English MTG cards, there are indeed a ton of fake packs and wax boxes floating around. the funny thing is when you buy a fake wax box its usually the same fifteen cards in every pack Tongue or sometimes multiple copies of an assortment of about 50 cards....

i'd love to get some type 2 action or even some classic or extended action... im gonna check out the shops listed.

on a side note, MTG: Online runs well from China and while moderately expensive, its the easiest way to get a real MTG fix from here.

Jesus Fu*king christ the world have changed since I last picked up my magic card, back in Canada.... that was like 15 years ago....

Chip? RFID?! OMFG!

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

Any of you blokes play with magic workstation?

They do drafts, and I'd like to find some folks locally to play with. I don't think I can get back into the physical card games, as that would be an expensive hobby ALL OVER AGAIN (mourns my 200+ dual lands +rares that I gave away)

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

Does anybody sell bootlegs in English? I've seen Chinese bootlegs of all sorts of games all over, but I didn't imagine that they'd bother to do English.....

So far I've only found a few cards at Mr. Li's shop in ZhongCuanCun, and beyond that nothing.

Trying to revive a dead horse here: has anyone seen a place selling the newer decks? My wife really wants to find the Orcs and Elves set.

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

Sorry, this is a bit off-topic, but since you guys are into MtG, do you also know any place to play D&D? The two groups have a tendancy to stick together where I come from Smile

Thanks

Yea - we're all geeks Laughing

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

Hmm, can this topic be revived?

I moved to Beijing this March, and since then have had only MTGO action. Would like to get same real paper Magic Smile

Do you know if there are any drafts where English speaking person can also participate?

Or maybe someone is in for some real-casual multiplayer?

If I had a standard deck, I'd be into that, as well.

What I have found is a really nice cafe (Fashio Restaurant), which has thousands of board games (did not see D&D there, though), and I heard that sometimes people play MTG there as well, but not the time when I was there.

Any advice?

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

Hello Everyone,

As some of you may already know, I'm trying to find a new home for my collection. After not having played with my cards for several years, it's time to say "zai jian" to them and to entrust someone else with them who will appreciate them as much as I once did. Some of you have been inquiring about where to buy cards which is why I posting this message here. Instead of forking out a fortune for new cards (which may also be fake!), you might consider acquiring my collection and save yourself A LOT of trouble getting hold of hard-to-find cards.

My collection includes 1616 cards from Revised (1994), Fallen Empires, 4th Edition, Ice Age, Chronicles (Arabian Nights, Antiquities, Legends, The Dark), Homelands, Alliances, Mirage, Visions, Weatherlight, Tempest, Stronghold and Exodus, in chronological order. The collection includes more than 200 uncommon and rare cards as well as a couple dozen or so gold cards. The overall condition of the cards is "very good" - some are a little worn around the edges, but the majority are in excellent or near mint condition.

I would be more than happy to send anyone a card list, but I am not selling any singles - it's all or nothing. Please send any inquiries to chrisjcookson (at) yahoo.com Thanks!

Chris

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

Just to answer the questions from like years ago, there's an official MTG shop at [中关村-zhong guan cun] in Beijing. All the cards are real and imported from USA. You can buy them in both Chinese and English.

Out of curiosity, anyone here live in Beijing and play English Magic the Gathering Cards? And I don't mean tournaments or anything on a serious level, I mean just play over a beer or a coffee or something.

My mate just got me a whole bunch as a present lol and I'm trying to figure out what to do with them.

Message me if you know, ciao!

T

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

Heya, I realize this is quite a dead thread by now, but is anyone still playing in Beijing? I will be arriving in Beijing in February, and would like to continue playing the game if I can find that the scene is still active there.

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

@blrigg01

Hey mate, I'm in Beijing now, I will be going back to Canada in january and coming back in february. I like to play, but I have not played in a few years, (since lorwyn) so I'm a bit behind on the current cards (with a few exceptions. Actually I'm a vintage/casual player. I would like to buy a few boxes of some various sets, and bring them back with me, then hold a few casual drafts in my office (beers, coffee, ect.) I have not found English cards here, but there are some. I probably would have played more seriously, but I'm really busy these days, and would just like to do it casually. (there is no vintage mtg here, from what I have found out)
Anyone interested in drafting English Cards casually in the new year, hit me with an e-mail and maybe a prefered set to draft, so I can pick some up when I go back, and we can work out the details.

Chandlerpatrick@hotmail.com

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

Is Revised '94 vintage enough for ya? Smile I can't play anymore because, like you, I'm just too busy and I'm just going to get busier. Let me know if you want to acquire my cards cuz they're still up for grabs. Details above.

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

@chris, i'm willing to entertain your offer, as I am a collector. Now, obviously you want to sell them all at once, and I will buy them, however, 1600 cards is not that many, and there are probably a whole lot of worthless cards in there (maybe some decent ones too;) Sight unseen, I will give you 300rmb for the lot, and maybe find a few cards in there that I like, and the rest will probably collect dust.

I say 300rmb, what do you think?

Your looking for a new home for them, I will take em, but not for some crazy amount of $$$$.

I've been playing for many years, and am in no need of anymore cards, but I will take em off your hands at what I think is a fair price (sight unseen).

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

Hi Chandler,

Thanks for your reply and offer. However, and without wanting to sound insensitive, your offer is, for lack of a more politically correct word, laughable. My highest valued card is worth almost the sum you quoted - and that's official. How is it possible for you or anyone to make an offer without even knowing which cards are included in the collection? Again, I don't mean to be rude, but I'm getting tired of people wanting something for nothing. I'd gladly send you a list, but, with your expectations, it doesn't seem you are willing or able to make a fair offer. Looks like I'll have to put them back on the shelf for another 15 years. Or maybe I can just use them as kindling - it's getting cold!

Re: Magic The Gathering (trading card game...)

and what would your highest valued card be? at 300 rmb, im thinking...force of will?

Again, remember, I was saying sight unseen, not even looking at the cards, that is what I would give you for them. Considering that the majority of them would be no offence "not worth much"

remember, when selling, you will only get about 50-75 percent of what they are actually "worth"
send me a list, and name your price. Then maybe we can work something out. I am open to discussion.

Send me the list. Chandlerpatrick@hotmail.com
