I'm no pet owner, but I think if foreigners have a pet, then they brought it with them. Therefore they will take it back home if they leave.

Buying a pet here I would consider as not very wise, except (again) you take it home.

I rescued one of my dogs off the street, and he and I have a very close bond.

I don't know if he remembers what it's like to be drinking dirty water and eating garbage, but I remember him then when we first met, and I'm glad I went that route.

Well, even though I agree with you 110% that people need to realize that a pet is a major responsibilty and just "going home" is not an excuse to leave it here (although there are some kind-hearted people out there who thought they were doing the right thing....bird lady .....the most important thing is finding these animals good homes. So I don't want Admin to ban people lwho are ooking for homes for their pets from the classifieds.

What I don't like is alowing the PUPPY MILLS - who are selling animals as if they were bars of soap or clock radios - advertise on the classifieds.

(no selling, adoption only) sounds like a good idea. but I think allowing adoption still opens a big hole for selling "here". tough problem, difficult to solve, takes 5,000 years.

I get so frustrated when I hear those excuses! People adopt/buy a pet with an unrealistic or romanticized idea of ownership (no matter what country they are in). The idea starts out great - oh, I will get a dog, take it for walks then all the hot chics will flock to my cute dog and I might get a phone number - then the b@stard sh!ts on your favorite pair of shoes and suddenly its no fun anymore. Guess you better get rid of it if you're gonna have to clean up after it. GRRRRRRR.

I adopted one of my cats via an ad, when I talked to the gal, she told me after she got him she found out she was allergic...I had a hard time believing that. People usually know if they are allergic to cats/dogs long before they adopt one. I have a feeling she wasn't too thrilled about potty training and litter box cleaning!

adopting is the way- my dog came to me after 2 owners, the first trained him well but couldn't take him back to oz n via an ex girlfriend he came to me. he's potty trained, relatively obedient (unless theres a female 3 times his size to try n hump) n ok so he chews up my slippers- so what?!?!? 8kuai slipper, big whup. i think we would have way more issues if he'd been really young when i got him cuz i'm too lazy to train a dog n enjoy lie ins.

A girl actually told me that she abandoned her dog because it GREW UP and wasn't cute anymore!! I had to punch the table (gave her a good fright that) to keep myself from punching her and walked away. These vermins ought to be impaled and left to be stoned at tiananmen square!

Anyway back to the topic, definitely adopt and not buy so I say ban the ads trying to sell pets!

i've heard some pretty morally disgusting things here regarding animals...
also seen someone from the local Wuye throw a brick at a neighborhood cat
(as usual, too traditional, too conservative)

...of course, on the other hand, there's a crew of ladies who takes care of those cats... i think even gets them spayed/neutered..

I feed street cats and have adopted some of them in recent years. They are very heathy, adorable sweeties. Why people tend to buy pets insteading of adopting?
Ban the ads please!
