Thinking of buying a 32" LCD TV, Chinese brand (e.g. Konka, TCL, Haier, Hisense). Some models are going for Rmb 5999 at Carrefour. Do you think I can get it cheaper at the local retailers such as Da Zhong or Gome?
Took the plunge yesterday and bought myself a Konka LCD 32" TV, model TM3211. Checked out both Dazhong and Gome that quoted similar prices. Very competitive with all quoting the same price and refusing to negotiate. Even did the "walk away seeing if they chase you and offer you a better price" and they didn't. Bought the TV at Gome in the end as they have some other in store promotions which took the price to Rmb 5,900. Same model at Carrefour is Rmb 7990!
Prices have come down considerably, Rmb 5999 for Chinese brands such as TCL, Konka, Skyworth, Haier. Changhong is a bit cheaper. Foreign brands such as Sony, Samsung, BenQ, Toshiba and Panasonic a lot more expensive.
I'd be careful with Changhong. I've heard that they've had some serious financial scandals and financial problems recently, and if you're counting on them to, say, replace your TV if it breaks, who knows if they'll be around in a few years.
