Hi everyone, I'm getting married and would like to find a really nice wedding gown. Imitations of American and European designers like Vera Wang are fine, but it doesn't have to be a name-brand.
Just looking for a trusty, reliable supplier who can make the gown on-time and deliver as promised at a realistic price (don't try ripping me off). No cheesy stuff, please.
Any recommendations for a supplier/tailor in Beijing? Thank you.

my coworkers have told me that a good wedding dress will be about 500-800 RMB. Now take in mind that these coworkers are only making a couple thousand kuai a month, so they may be in a class level lower than you and the quality of the dress sub-standard. However, if you let us know what kind of dress you get, the quality, and the price I'd be very interested.

Hi, to answer your question (and thank you for your help), I've only visited with about 4 dress-sellers in the past week that offer wedding dresses. I've seen dresses selling for 3000RMB to 38000RMB. The most expensive ones are made of the nice, satin (silk-like material) with intricate designs involving fake crystals or diamonds around the tummy area. I like that.
If I had to put a max-cap on, it would be 18000RMB.

Near the top-end, there's at least one (maybe two) formal dress shops in Oriental Plaza. I've seen a few nice designs once in a while just passing by. Based on the location, I'm sure they're pretty $$$, but it might be a place to look. Especially since your budget would get you almost any non-couture gown in the US!

Looked around at a few places and am still looking. what happens is that a lot of the sellers are based in small apartments (not a real store) and they promise you a dress that they will make from a picture you show. No real guarantee that it will come out exactly as you like but they will try really hard and most of the time they get really close. Look at their samples carefully and see if you like it.
The one at the Oriental Plaza Dong Fang Guang Chang has a lot of promise for you. Take a look.
A lot of the local newspapers also advertise wedding dresses. Even if you're like me and can't read chinese at least you can see the picture and find an address to go to. Good luck. I'm still looking, so if you see anything cool let me know.

There is a big photo shop just inside the west fourth ring, about 1000 meters north of the subway station Wukesong (stay alongside the fourth ring and you can't miss; a lot of photo ads on the outside of the building). For some reason photoshops and marriage are linked together here, and inside that building there are a couple of shops with many wedding dresses. I don't know if these are for rent to make the photo shoot, or if you can buy them, but at least they should know where they can be made.

I think you can buy nice wedding dress from goodorient.com. There were so many wedding gowns to choose from goodorient.com & the price is rather affordable. It's surprisingly great. Material feels great; the dress feels solid, nothing flimsy. They have a lot of designs. Anyone else want to share where they got their's from?
