There is one on the 5th floor of the Ucenter, right next to Wu Dao Kou station. Not a large arcade, though.

Re: Video Game Arcade
Shanghai has some wicked 24 hour ones that are dirt cheap (corner of chongqing lu and xujiahui lu- orange-esque building on the 3rd floor) ... a 20 kuai bag of tokens will last any one person until their bored and with all the latest japanese games. Only problem is its really LOUD. they have all the games max on volume. im serious, even with your ipod you can hear the noise.
yeah, please someone sort us out with a luguang (the shanghai name) in BJ!!!

Re: Video Game Arcade
Hey, I'm new to the board and wonder if anyone can help. I'm in Beijing and I can't find a Drummania ( got completely addicted whilst visiting Japan last week!). I saw one in Xidan but it was 10th mix and all pop rubbish. I would prefer a V5 rock to infinity cabinet, but as I know that China's not always up to the latest in the arcade I'll settle for an early one. Thanks in advance and a location as close to Haidian as possible would be appreciated

Re: Video Game Arcade

Re: Video Game Arcade
You won't find Street Fighter 4 in an arcade. Not in Beijing anyway.
I go to different arcades in Beijing about twice a month.
I've got SF4 for the Xbox 360, it's very nice.

Re: Video Game Arcade

Hey, any of you guys still here? I'm in Beijing at the moment and was wondering if anyone was willing to join up for some arcade fun. I know the xidan one now has SF IV, Teken6, KOF XII, and my fav BlazBlue. Though i'm wondering if any other arcades in beijing have blazblue..

Re: Video Game Arcade
The arcades in Wanda Plaza and Viva in Shuangjing have SF IV, Calamity Trigger and Tekken 6. I'd love to play more Tekken 6, but 4 kuai a go is kind of expensive.
I bought the airline

Re: Video Game Arcade
go to xidan then, its only 2 kuai for the new games there including tekken 6. Plus there are people playing it there non stop, so you'll have plenty of competition there.

Re: Video Game Arcade
hey nut cracker thnx for the viva advice. Place is amazing, plus i got to meet some wicked blazblue players there. If you befriend these guys, they can get you a discount card where you will get 3 coins for 2 rmb.

Re: Video Game Arcade
Hey everyone. I know this forum may not get checked too often, but honestly these few posts with light descriptions led me to an awesome arcade when I was just about to give up. Thus, I am posting this here as a sort of time capsule, to help anyone like me (I can't be the only one who has ever come to Beijing that loves fighting games...) in their future endeavors.
I will post what I have found, as well as what I didn't find, or didn't even look for because the maps or posts were too vague/didn't help. I will also only be posting about fighting games, since most of the other games are pretty consistent/the same/I don't care as much about them
Originally I was looking for 3S or ST, but quickly gave up and decided to settle on whatever arcades were offering for the most part. I figure games from 94 and 98 that aren't KoF are too old for these arcades to have around. Such is life.
Wudaokou - There is an arcade at the top floor of the the Ucentre mall (very close to the station), but it only has KoF (3 of them...). Didn't spend much time there.
Guomao - I found the elusive Wanda cinemas in Wanda plaza, (it's a nice walk from the station - use a map), and it had 1 SF4 (not super) machine, 1 T6 machine, and 2 KoF machines. Competition was rather low in SF4 (I am not good, but beat everyone who played, which was only 4-5 people in 2-3 hours), T6 and KoF always have people who want to play. Price: 4 yuan each
Xidan - Xidan kicks ass, but you have to know where to look. Since it's hard to find a station that has even one arcade, I was blown away when I found 3 near this station.
1. The first is in the fancy, new mall called Joy City. It sports a T6 machine in the middle of the floor and some KoF machines on the side. Price: 4 yuan for T6, no idea about others.
2. The second was on the top floor of some other big mall. Owned by the same company, you will find similar games. This was probably the most depressing arcade I visited, as some of the games were very old and some of the machines didn't work (wouldn't respond to entering money, sticks not up to par, etc.). They have 2 T6 machines, 1 VF4, 1 SC3, and a bunch of KoF. Price: 1-2 yuan, depending on the game (T6 was 2).
3. I don't know how I found this one, but I was so dejected by the time I got done with those other two arcades that I decided I had to find this "underground mall" before I went home. With a lot of luck and some clues on the ground, I found it. This place is pretty much fantastic. I'm sorry I can't give a better description of where this place is, but it's there. Look for it near the station (it's a bit closer to Xidan station than Joy City and that other mall). They have: 2 SF4 (not super) machines, 2 T6, 1 VF5, 1 Blazblue (CS
, 1 TvC (not UAS), Fate/Unlimited Codes, a million KoF machines, and closer to the back they have less popular games, like Blazblue (CT), GGAC, MB:AA, and some others. Best part? Everything: 1 yuan. Competition there is highest I've seen, but not especially high. Was definitely fun and refreshing after my long trek to find a decent arcade.
Zhongguancun - I searched high and low for an arcade here, but couldn't find one. I drudged through a lot of aggressive sales people and general crap to look around this station. Highly not recommended unless you know where you're going or want to buy lots of things.
Shuangjing - I google map searched the Viva mall, but couldn't find it. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist, but I don't really feel like going in blind. Any help greatly appreciated.
Wangfujing - Same deal here. I'd love to go, but the post that said "the biggest mall" isn't good enough for me to go in blind trying to find this place. Maybe sometime soon.
I will keep this updated as I learn more about Beijing and what goes on here. I hope this may help future people who are in my shoes.

Re: Video Game Arcade
The Wangfujing arcade was woefully inferior to the Viva arcade in every way the last time I was there (at least a year ago)
When you get to Shuangjing (go directly south from Guomao on the 3rd ring), Viva is the large building on the west side of the road with "VIVA" written on it in giant, gay, purple letters. Though I think it may have started changing colour recently.
It takes up a very large area of space, has a cinema, a supermarket ,a large variety of places to eat and even more places for women to buy sh*t.
Shuanjing subway has an exit that feeds directly into the place.
There is no way in hell you could miss it if you go there.

Re: Video Game Arcade
Umm...my post says I didn't look for the Viva mall. After repeated failures in trying to find arcades that didn't suck or, at the very least, existed, I was not too excited at the prospect of going in blind to another station. For instance the Wanda plaza is impossible to find if you just go to the station and expect to find an arcade without some kind of map. I also attempted a similar venture in Zhongguancun, expecting that surely the "electric town" will have an arcade in a conspicuous place. Guess I just picked the wrong stations. I'm not incredibly familiar with the city yet, and I am visiting these places purely to try to find awesome arcades.
But thanks, I will go search for it now that I know it's easy to find. Hopefully it will be great.
EDIT: Thanks for the tip on Wangfujing. I'll check out VIVA and see if the Blazblue competition is any higher there
and I'll update my post for any future lurkers who wander into Beijing.

Re: Video Game Arcade
BTW the Wangfujing one is on the western side of the main strip.
Behind a mall with a large screen at the entrance, (that might describe a few places, been a while since I was there)
You walk around an alley to the right of the building, it's on the ground floor.
I think the area where you can get scorpions and sh*t might be on the other side, it feeds into an alley packed with stalls where you can buy touristy Chinese things like Feng Shuei compasses, beads and sh*t.

Re: Video Game Arcade
Are you referring to the Taito arcade? I thought that place got demolished. Used to play Tekken 4 and Spikeout there.
I bought the airline

Re: Video Game Arcade
It's been a while man, very possible it was demolished.
Now that I think of it, the Taito logo was above the entrance to the alley.

Re: Video Game Arcade
registered just to post here... tks for the useful update (from last year)
I did my own scouting. Beijing is nowhere near as advanced in terms of arcades as Shanghai or HK. There are basically 2 arcades worth going to, already mentioned by BearsAreScary. The main games played are Street Fighter 4 (Super) and Tekken 6.
Another popular game in China is Sanguo Taisen (v1, not v3 like in Japan). I was looking for another Sega "card" arcade game called World Club Champion's Football (WCCF), but although popular in Shanghai, it doesn't seem to exist in Beijing.
The Arcade in Xidan in the Underground Mall is in a shopping centre called 77 Street (Exit A I think...). It is on the opposite end of the Mall from the metro station on the "B" floor. In China ground floor is 1, basement is B1, so it is sort of between the 2 floors. It exits onto a main road opposite starbucks. There are a LOT of games here, both old and new. The quality of Tekken and KoF play is pretty high... was less impressed by SF play, but maybe just come on bad days. As I have only gone on weekends it is worth saying that the place is VERY crowded. Expect to wait to play the newest/most popular games. It is pretty cheap though. No Sanguo though.... just the usual racing and fighting games.
The other one in Xidan, in Joy City, is on the 8th Floor. It has some arcade games, but is a little more shabby and less advanced (also more expensive). Not really for a serious gamer.
There is a second "good" arcade in Viva Shopping Centre (Exit A) in Shuangjing, next to the UME Cinema on the top floor. It has all the same games as in Xidan, but is a little less crowded, nicer/cleaner and slightly more expensive (1.2 rmb play depending on level of loyalty card). Quality of SF play is much higher than in Xidan... but fewer ppl play Tekken. I could win quite a lot, and not really an expert Tekken player. They also have Sangguo, albeit much worse standard of opponent than anything in Shanghai or HK.
