who will go to bookworm for this?
An extremely rare opportunity to hear a man with a 'China experience' like no other. Sidney Rittenberg arrived in the middle kingdom full of revolutionary fervour in 1944. Throughout the proceeding decades he worked as a journalist and interpreter, mingled with the highest of Chinese political society, and spent a total of 16 years in solitary confinement accused of being an American spy. A fascinating character, Sidney Rittenberg remains committed to promoting dialogue between China and the US, now via a consultancy company he runs with his Chinese wife. Now in his 80's, Mr Rittenberg is a wonderful speaker, recounting his experiences with frankness and humility. Don't miss this unique opportunity hear his truly extraordinary experiences.

Re: who will go to bookworm for this?
did anyone go? what were your thoughts?
i meant to go, but dinner took longer than expected and by the time we were ready to set out to sanlitun, the traffic was so horrific that there was no way we'd have gotten there by 7:30. some friends took a taxi from wudauko to the bookworm and it took an hour and a half! (half an hour alone probably spent JUST trying to get the hell out of wudauko - don't even get me started on the insane traffic jams that happen every day in that stupid area...)
