Da Dong
I just read an article about Da Dong on China Daily web site. Wow. What crap. We ate there the other day, the one nearer to Chaoyang Acrobabts, and it was horrible. As far as food, duck, and other dishes go, I don't recommend it. And importantly, it missed a lot of the "show" that often accompanies ordering duck. Now, if the duck was damn good, I wouldn't have cared, but it wasn't, plus the service bored us.

Re: Da Dong
wow, you must have been there on an off night. You might try their new location at Nanxincang ... I've found the new one to be nicer. Maybe they moved the best duck roasters there.

Hmmm
i went last night.
i had a portion of fried prawns for starter then le bird.
all i can say is that i'll never be able to eat Beijing duck in england ever again after last nights meal.
the whole, performance, routine, show, should i say was absolutely fantastic. no greasy fat bird, no oil dripping down your chin. the waitress helped me out and showed me the 3/4 combinations of eating it with the wraps.
totally blown away. a great experience that i'm gonna have to repeat before i split next week.

small world. had we crossed paths i doubt you would forget me. not that i'm handsome or anything like that. i got some pretty distinguishing features.
i've not done other ducks here. time is limited but have been reading this forum since my first visit last year. had to go check out what the rant was about and it was a killa meal. am on holiday leg of trip so don't mind paying, if it was to become a regular thig i wold do some looking around just to see how good i had it at Da Dude. it blew me away, gonna hassle hell out of london duck from now on. won't eat it again till i return to Bjing

Re: Da Dong
I had my birthday dinner here. The atmosphere is nice. Everything is fancy and what not, but it's nothing to write home about. A real tourist trap!
