Thomas Friedman at Bookworm-- How was it?

Did anyone here go hear him speak last night? How was it?

I was one of the unlucky many that arrived too late to get in even though I arrived two hours before he was scheduled to speak. It was a very disappointing walk home. Sad

How is cheeseburger at Brown's?

Ceterum censeo Carthaginem esse delendam.

it's pretty damn satisfying. Not too huge, comes with small side of fries. I think the lot is 35 kuai.

I love the wings. They are coated in a gross-looking blue cheese sauce and are not as crispy as I like, but absolutely delicious. The only bummer is that at 42 kuai i can't afford to fill up on 'em (I could probably consume about 4 orders of the things)

Yeah, I couldn't get in either. Was just gonna start a thread asking if anybody got in when I saw this post. So whoever got in, please fill us in on how the talk was. I walked over to 3.3 afterwards and after seeing that a damn tank top cost 1700RMB, walked over to Tasty Taste and decided to at least satisfy my dessert craving.

I had to google his name, was beginning to think it was a cookery lecture at the bookworm

Re: Thomas Friedman at Bookworm-- How was it?

The talk was quite good. The place was completely full; half the people standing/sitting on the floor. He basically just ran through the main ideas of his book but it was interesting and very informative. He did have a habit of repeating himself but that didn't really detract; It was mostly because he was speaking without notes. He is a very natural public speaker and he handled the questions really well. Shame it was so full; really could have done with a bigger venue. They did video the whole thing so I'm sure you could go and ask to watch it...
