french is not sexy or romantic by itself, it what you say that matters, and from my personal experience, french speakers are not more romantic than others, surely not,

@keith
a little suggestion to learning French
to have the courage to keep learning and using it, it's pretty pretty hard to learn French! I have tried for one month, but gave it up finally due to the study.
I guess French is a language that needs your focus all the time.
Good luck to you!
learn to stop being ambiguous in this big big world...
keith - learn french if you think it's sexy, it doesn't matter if it's difficult or other people don't think it's sexy, if you want to do it then do it. just try.
it might be hard to learn, but so is english and you seem to be speaking that
Hey welldone!!
Thats more that my boyfriend has learnt in three months
Only kidding
If you really want to learn french go for it, it will come useful for sure
Everybody speaks english now so you will always have an advantage if you speak another european language
Bonne chance!

To fall down at your door:
I disagree... every language has characteristics to it that can make it seem one way or another to a person subjectively, but the french (and here I mean language, not nation-state) attitude mixed with the sounds and tones really do make it a sexy language.
modesty will get you nowhere, babochina, french is sexy.
deal with it.

maybe u re right
but i understand french, so the pure sexiness of the sound is not obvious to me
and after 3 years here, where, with a 90% accuracy, ppl tell me as soon as they know i m a native french speaker, "french is so romantic..."
i m growing weary of it
the other 10% usually say : "i studied french for __ years at high school, and i don t remember anything, it was so difficult"
pls, spare me the cliche, i m not even french, i m not of the country of versailles, la tour eiffel and the romantic streets of paris and if u start with france like a nation ... pfff!
but u can talk to me in italian, spanish or cantonese any time u like
sounds so nice

@juhuacha - not if you speak it with a strong quebecois accent like me - the kings french with the accent of a farmer.
It really does depend on the dialect whether it is sexy or not.
Is that a foot in your mouth or are you just glad to see me?
... actually, this makes me wonder: what are the typical adjectives that people apply to various languages/dialects (especially in China, that could be very interesting)

english is much more useful than french in my opinion...

french is a nice language, its softer and warmer and you have a lot more options for your formulation ... and surely not as hard to learn as chinese.
i am french, born in germany, but i went to french school in berlin. so i luckily master both without any accent .... very usefull when making fun of my german fellas!
