Alfa friday night, the 23rd
I finally made it to Alfa last friday and really enjoyed the place. It was a bit lacking attendance wise but nevertheless one of my better bar/dance club experiences in Beijing overall.
Anyone up for the party tomorrow night? all you can stomach 80s music, decent drinks, friendly waiters and a cool place.

Badr... you still down for this tonight?
I've been favouring 80s music these days...
Can you actually have a conversation with someone there? I mean decibal-wise. Or is it mostly a dancing place?
I hate dancing...
Also, Badr is a cool guy. I met him once.

yo, hero.
the decibel level is very reasonable. You can actually talk to people without screaming your lungs out...
I'm definitely heading there with some friends

Dancing at Alfa is fun! because it's goofy 80s music so you can dance however you want in a fun goofy way. You don't have to do the whole macho-bum-and-grinding at all

It will take me several cocktails to get to that point...but sounds fun.
I just hate clubs where poseur hip-hop clothes-wearing Chinese dudes start doing the running man and shite... you know?

there won't be too many Chinese people there. But I know what you mean. I hate places like that too.

Re: Alfa friday night, the 23rd
Chinese people are fine. Don't get me wrong.
I should have said "dudes", it's not really a race specific issue.
I don't even know why it bothers me... but they just look so silly to me.
I think only black people should be allowed to "hip hop dance". HAhahaa

There are plenty of "niches" to sit upstairs where you definately can hold a conversation. But you shouldn't get there much later than 10 pm, otherwise they will all be taken.
They have a 80s-Night-Special of 45 kuai Long Island Iced-Tea in HUGE glasses. Really bad...

Did you guys go? Did it rock? I went to take a nap at 6pm thinking I'd go out that evening, but I didn't wake up until morning.

Re: Alfa friday night, the 23rd
I went with a few friends.
It was completely different from last week in terms of crowd! The dance floor was jam packed but upstairs was nice and empty.
They played a good mix of mainly 80s music and even had a heavy 4 song rotation with AC/DC, joan Jett, Guns and Nirvana in the middle. Not to mention a bit of Tom jones.

I popped in on Friday night, too. Fun scene and a lot of people dancing.
