China Mobile account balance using SMS?

Hi,

I have a China Mobile pay-as-you-go SIM card and I would like to know if it's possible to find my remaining balance by sending an SMS to a number rather than calling the 13800138000 number and going through all the prompts. If anyone can help, thanks in advance.

hi, I hope I can help.
firstly, calling 13800138000 is free of charge.
secondly, you can not check your remaining balance by sending messages, because it is not available so far.
thirdly, if you want to know all the prompts, you can go to the Chinamobile service branches（移动营业厅） nearby to ask them to print you a detail receipt (话费详单).

if you need more information, please dial 10086, and it is free when you are in Beijing.

I'm not sure if this works on prepaid, but on my Quan qiu tong China Mobile phone, I can send a SMS with "yecx" to 10086 to get my balance. It used to work for my prepaid too.

FYI The letters stand for "yu e cha xun"

I got prepaid M-Zone (Beijing number), I send "ye" on 1861 (I think 10086 works too), and get the answer like you. But it didn't work with the Shen Zhou Xing. I'll check if "yecx" works there.

Out of town numbers seem to have different systems for that. I know the "ye" thing didn't work for Shanghai/Guangdong numbers.
