Have you used Taobao?

Someone mentioned that in China online shopping is like this. You order what you want, they come with the product to your house and you pay for product+delivery. Is this how Taobao also works?
Or in case of second-hand you go and pick it up and pay for it.

It's better to be nice, kind, generous, friendly, helpful, sexy and rich than to be obnoxious, scary, stinky, stingy, lonely and poor.

Re: Have you used Taobao?

I just call the merchant directly if there is a contact number, and make a deal with them.

Do they come to your house or how do you get the item?

Yes, they deliver, depending on what you buy and where you live -- they charge me a small fee, since I'm not in the city.

Re: Have you used Taobao?

Normally I call the contact number provided and go to pick it up in person (in case of any problems), but you can also pay for it by ATM or sometimes credit card online and the seller will usually pay for delivery within the city. The product will be brought to you by 快递(kuai di) which is a third party delivery service, essentially like bike messengers. Normally all the 快递(kuai di) does is deliver the product, but some sellers might agree to you giving the cash to the delivery guy and then you paying the return delivery cost in case you don't have an ATM or credit card.
