Good Sushi
Re: Good Sushi
Re: Good Sushi
Yotsuba has specialty rolls (dragon rolls, spider rolls, etc...) or is it strictly traditional Japanese sushi?
I would love to find somewhere closer to my apartment that has specialty rolls as I absolutely HATE the rush hour drive to get over to Hatsune from Dngzmn.

Re: Good Sushi
nope...no rolls like that. more like...salmon & tuna rolls. if you want fresh sashimi/sushi ...this is the place. i like Hatsune for their varieties of rolls, but i too hate the rush hr drive there. i use to go to Matsuko once in a while (convenient) but the sashimi/sushi is close to tasteless.
oh, and thanks Anci D
Re: Good Sushi
You're welcome.
@cdavis
Yotsuba is the place you go when you want to have real traditional japanese sushi.
Very fresh, and ask for a place in front of Kobayashi-san, he does art with all those knives and it's just incredibly beautiful to watch him.
Of course, you'll have to make a reservation few days in advance as the place is small and exrtemely popular with japanese crowd.

Yotsuba.
Very small but very popular japanese place, you'll have to book few days in advance.
They have special deliveries from Tokyo several times a week, the freshest sushi you can find around here.
Highly recomended.

@anci
Where is said Yotsuba? I've never heard of it before.
Hatsune has always been my favorite. I'm mad addicted, could eat there everyday.

Re: Good Sushi
It's very small and it's mostly popular with japanese crowd, so not many non japanese poeple are familiar with the place.
So my guess is if japanese say it is good sushi, it has to be good sushi. And it really is.
It's on xinyuanlu, behind that italian dolce vita restaurant.
Do you know now or do you need more directions?
If you go there, ask to be seated in front of the sushi making guy, he's japanese and what he does is art.
However, you will have to call and make a booking at least 2 days in advance.

Re: Good Sushi
Yotosuba is my favorite by far, while Hatsune --in spite of its accolades-- is WAY down the list. Shoto Muni in Blue Castle is also surprisingly good.... and is half price during lunch.

Re: Good Sushi
Yes, Hatsune seems more like popular choice among people here in Beijing.
I must confess I haven't really eaten there a lot, just several times and I wasn't really THAT impressed, ok place, but nothing to go crazy about.
I always prefered Kagen to Hatsune, but if we talk about sushi, Yotsuba it is.

Re: Good Sushi
New place opened in Blue Castle, two or three stops away from Evolution fitness center - at lunch, everything half off and they're rolls are huge - same with their pieces of sashimi. Highly recommend it, but don' t know the name of the place.

Re: Good Sushi
I used to live in Blue Castle - place is way overpriced. Plus landlord was a dongbei d*** who stole a few thousand kuai from me. Didn't notice it when I was living there in June of 2006 and walking by there all the time to go to evolution. Guess I was more concerned with getting my clothes dry cleaned!
