I can't imagine any beach in China, other than in the very south, would be nice enough to even bother. Plus, all of the crowds.... Better to go to the pool, save money and go to a real beach in Vietnam or Thailand

With 7,107 islands, and a coastline twice the length of that of the United States, the Philippines can claim to be Asia's Beach Capital. Enjoy the warm crystal blue waters of both the China Sea and the Pacific Ocean. Mention the Philippines and images of long, white sand beaches and bodies of water blessed with a variety of marine life come to mind.

Try Koh Lanta - great beaches, really laid back, excellent diving, and cheaper than Ko Samui and Phuket.
Hainan has some great beaches. just avoid the tourist trap called Sanya. All along the eastern coast are wonderfully empty beaches that stretch for mile plane ticket are 810rmb one way. Go to ShiMei Bay and enjoy!
Yeah forgot to mention the Philippines in my response. Went there for the first time a few years ago...absolutely loved it and did not want to come back to China. Great people, amazing diving, one of those trips where everything worked out as planned.....Went to Puerto Galera and am still thinking about my next trip......
The destination shouldn't be Manila..Manila is an interesting city but the real thing to do is go straight for the islands to stay as long as possible. But, for my fellow Americans out there, it is reall easy to get spoiled at the shopping malls in Manila...Everything from J Crew, Mrs. Field's Cookies, Auntie Anne's Pretzels to Kenny Rogers Roasters...Plus nice to watch a movie without subtitles

Clear
Last thing I want for my lovely vacation is to get spoiled at the shopping malls. No No
Many people from the Philippines tell me the same thing about Puerto Galera....it must be nice to come from a country where a beautiful beach is not even that beautiful by your standards Anyway, I went there because it is relatively close to Manila, didn't want to spend the entire week travelling, and many people told me the diving there is amazing, which it was. Also, people there love to party and have a good time. My boyfriend even had Balut (sp??) The next time I go I will have to take much longer than a week and really see some amazing beaches. Wow, maybe I should work for the tourism bureau or something....
Thank you for the lovely pictures, Tobal, seriously I am coming in October, once Im back from my country definitely I am taking you out for a date (don't worry, girlfriends date )
They are all beautiful. Been to Boracay and Puerto Galera (white beach), and although the weather was not that good on White beach it was still pretty awesome. But if you have to choose, take boracay. There is a cheap airline doing Manila-Boracay daily (I think we paid about 60 euro for a return ticket booked one day before departure).
But I just came back from Thailand yesterday and they also have their fair share of beautiful beaches. I think many of them are a bit spoiled by tourism (same for Phillipines on some places), but some nice ones I have seen lately Koh Phi Phi (famous area from James Bond movies and 'the Beach', this was filmed at Maya bay), Koh Tao, Lamai beach in Koh Samui and Koh Samed. Avoid Pataya and Hua Hin. If you are into big touristy places with a lot of clubbing, Phuket is your spot.
One thing I don't like about both countries the shameless old fat and ugly guys wandering around with young girls acting all in love. I know it's part of the economy, bringing in money for the girls and giving them a chance for a better future, but I always feel ashamed when I see it. cry
Another of my favorites is Dos Palmas Arracefi Island Resort. Dos Palmas Arreceffi Island Resort is nestled in the tropical waters of Honda Bay, northeast from Puerto Princesa, Palawan. A quiet hideaway amidst pristine natural surroundings in the Philippines' last frontier, they offer comfortable and modern facilities while providing you with the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate the wonders of nature.
Enjoy the pics below!! .

It will be another long night at work in this dusty city, your pictures are killing me. Okay, add me on to the list of people who will be in the Philippines this October.....
Now, I just have a tiny little problem....either Boracay or Dos Palmas arreciffe....
I don't want to be surrounded by people, I want the feeling that I own the island , so which one?? And pretty please, do not give more suggestions darling! One week or 10 days just isn't enough for such beautiful places!
Looks like we're gonna have a sort of TravA (Travelling Alcooholics ?) meeting in October !
Tobal, that's fun you open this discussion these days : Time Out BJ July, that's been released yesterday, actually does have ana rticle about Philipinnes and its beaches. Kinda new trend.
But eh, I have another question : am I insane ? I dunno, I love mountains forests can make it too, but as for beach I'm a bit suspicious. Most probably cause I grew up in a mountainous area, but still : dull flat spit of sand, infinite repetition of boring shaking coconut trees, too perfect blue and clears waters, and overall all those fuc**g annoying little things, jellyfish, seeweed, sharks (yeah, i often meet sharks at the beach), what's the point will all this ?
Why would you want to go to the beach ? (though a gin lemon bottle for 2 people under a sea sun set is a nice trip too)
Basic rule about business in China : at first, laowai has the money and the chinese has the market knowledge ; then the chinese has the money and laowai the market knowledge :)
If you're really after "owning the island," then go for Dos Palmas. When we went there, there were just me & my 2 friends + this Korean family of 3. And we went there on a summer (MAR)! We literally owned the island!! .
But are you sure you can handle 10 days of isolation? . Oh, and the rates for Dos Palmas are a bit steep (USD 200+ per night per person on twin sharing) compared to Bora.
For Bora, you'll have the same sun, sand & fun. But it's more commercialized. It's a bigger island. More bars/restos to choose. But then again, OCT is a low month. So, there will be few people...but definitely more than 3!! .
Below are some comparison pics. Please pardon me if I'm posting pics of myself & my friends. This is to show you the difference on the no. of tourists. The first 2 pics are in Bora. The last 4 pics are in Dos Palmas. .

Well, some people loves the beach some people don't. I love it! but I do have some relatives and friends that have the same tought as yours.
Better you don't go to the beach wich such thinking, it is annoying to be in paradise with people that do not enjoy it! If you were my bf Im sure that vacation issue would be a break up topic
