Ghost Stories of Beijing........

I saw the older post from a year ago about ghosts in beijing (http://www.thatsbj.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3171)...

I have been wondering about ghosts in Beijng?
the stories are so interesting...
i am fascinated by them
Has anybody read any books or such about this?

New Jersey (about 8th time this week i have mentioned my home state) is filled with ghost stories... weirdnj.com
Beijing has got to have them...
how cool would a ghost tour of Beijing be...?

(spettro means spectre by the way...)

Re: Ghost Stories of Beijing........

That would be very cool.

Time Out did a whole ghost and haunted things issue last year in October (Helloweeen). Very good stories they had there...

I'll try to dig it up somewhere, I can't really remember everything.

All I remember now is that old building on Chongwenmen Neidajie, and that old building compound where Ruifu was. They are supposed to be haunted.

BTW, once I went to Ruifu with few friends, we decided to go out for a joint or two, and hought the best place would be just inside of that compound as it looks like a park almost.

It does look a bit eerie during the night. And it was only few of us, no lights, cold night and all that, and we had a great adrenaline rush out of it, well, I did, others were cool about it. I kept turning around back at every little sound. Quite fun.

But Ruifu seems to be gone now...maybe it's because of the ghosts they business was bad. Thinking

Re: Ghost Stories of Beijing........

Chaoyangmennei da jie, well, it's west of chaoyangmen subway station.

If you're taking the subway, take the southwest exit, cross the street to get on the norht side (there's no northwest exit, you see), and then go towards west, after maybe few hunderd meters, very very close, maybe right after the first pedestrian bridge, you will see an old building, not at all chinese style, it should date since colonial times, it looks great, very creepy and beautiful.

Ofcourse, you can't go inside, as the gate doors are always locked and very often I would see some guys in military uniforms hanging around there for soem reason.

Go see it before it gets torn down. Actually I haven't been there for quite a while, I hope it's still standing Big Grin

Re: Ghost Stories of Beijing........

As for the compound where Ruifu was, I don't know the name of the street.

It's the street that goes from Dongsishitiao to Houhai.

If you take the subway to Dongsishitiao, go towards west (take a taxi, though, as it is not really close), and it should be right after the second big crossroad. On the right hand side, you'll see it, no way to miss it, it looks like a small fortress of some kind.

Fireworks are supposed to drive them away. I think China exports it's ghosts along with everything else.

I'm a big believer in ghosts having seen one and witnessed the effects of the same over the course of two years (cheap dilapateded college apartment, probably 100 years old).

Defoliating a victory garden sure works up an appetite.

ok,i confess....i'm one of them.....

Re: Ghost Stories of Beijing........

Well, most of people dun give a sh*t about this kind of stuff.
But the thing is,I was waken up in the mid of night by some noise up the ceiling when the first day I moved into my new apartment alone in Tongzhou.Few days later my friends moved in and the one who slept by the window told us he was waken up by some footsteps up and down last several times.=.=I dunno what the heck is that cuz we live right in the top floor and the door to the top of the building has been locked....Fortunately the 3rd man
in this apt.got somethin in this field(such as Fengshui,Yinyang.Exorcism, gosh ) from his family. He made a quick ceremony....Then those haunted phenomena all gone....Actually I was a total science believer until I went to my university.I tried to explain these kinda things in a science way but failed.
Now get confused~ Beijing is a huge historic city, maybe its physical structure is much more complex than we imagine. This is what I keep telling myself....Sad

BTW,I like that WeirdNJ site, kinda like this mystery stuff now.

Re: Ghost Stories of Beijing........

anyway, it's the following:

Re: Ghost Stories of Beijing........

this is not a ghost story of Beijing, but anyway.
