Looking for an expat or Chinese wedding planner and/or emcee
Getting married next year and am starting to get nervous about the flow of the actual day. I know we will do a western style ceremony (30 min?) then reception and then have music and stuff but I'm afraid there will be no one who can make sure it goes smoothly.
Have any expats been married here? How did you make sure it went smoothly? Anyone ever use a wedding planner out here and wish to suggest them?
Thanks!

Re: Looking for an expat or Chinese wedding planner and/or emcee
Ok so this is a very very late reply but thank you lodgerly for the help. I am finally now thinking about calling one of them and was wondering if anyone had any idea about prices. We don't want anything fancy but our venue is probably going to be a very beautiful but empty shell of a place that will need chairs, tables, speakers... I don't know if it's worth using a planner or finding a way to rent this stuff.

most of the weddings I have gone to here have a friend do the MCing its more intimate as the person knows you
I would have some chinese company running my wedding to be honest

Re: Looking for an expat or Chinese wedding planner and/or emcee
well, i wouldn't use the company to actually find me a "host" because the weddings I've been to who have had a host (every single chinese wedding i've ever been to) were LAME. it's the worst part. I just need a planning company to help with the set up though I don't think my taste would fit with theirs. I want to try and see though, it seems design and all of that is getting better here...

I'll do it for 50 kuai.
Haha, just kidding. I'll do anything for 50 kuai, but not THAT. I truly advise you against marriage. Although you won't listen to me.. you'll wish you listened about 2 months into the hell-ride.

Re: Looking for an expat or Chinese wedding planner
Hi - how did it go? Did you find someone? Hope it went well! I'm also looking for a wedding planner, preferably a fluent English speaker, and there seems to be no information online for expats looking for this service. Any help or suggestions appreciated!

NO, not really. I didn't tell him. I don't want him to worry about me plus it's probably just becasue the marriage.

Hi! I'm not sure if you've already found a wedding planner or an emcee but I know a very good emcee who is completely fluent in both English and Chinese and she's done wedding events before. She's a Chinese girl who was born and raised in the states and is not working in Beijing as a bilingual emcee and tv show host. As for a wedding planner, the price will vary depending on what you're looking for and what you'll need the planner to do. Do you know how much you're looking to spend? I know a girl who works as a wedding planner in Beijing as well, and she's also an ABC. She's done two of my friends' weddings and it worked out pretty well. Let me know if this helps and if you would like to get in touch with either of them!

"The Orchard" is a great place for a wedding, its got excellent food, a P.A and loads of different space/options for looking after guests.
