Re: What book are you reading at the moment?

"China Road: A Journey Into the Future of a Rising Power" by Rob Gifford.

A truly wonderful book! The author travels along Route 312 which is a road that goes all across China (Shanghai to Xinjiang). I really like the ancient and recent history that's included. Helps me understand China better!!

Peter Hessler's Oracle Bones. Great read.

Philip K. d*** "The Man in the High Castle". I rate Bladerunner, so "Do androids dream of electric sheep?" might be next.

Re: What book are you reading at the moment?

I'm currently reading Ghostwritten by David Mitchell. It takes a bit to get into, but once the pieces start falling together, you can't put it down. Going to read The Road by Cormac McCarthy next. It is supposed to be one of the best books of the year.

Re: What book are you reading at the moment?

I'm re-reading Herzog by Saul Bellow...a writer in his prime almost up there with Marquez...

All great civilizations have been based on loitering. -Jean Renoir

What China really needs:
- Bill Nye, "the Science Guy", to come teach them basic Science.
- Jared Diamond, Dan Brown, and Spencer Wells to teach them about world/human history.
- MLK and Gandhi and Einstein to teach them about what being human means.
