Australian pub...Where???

Hi guys,

I am very keen to watch some Australian Rules (ALF) Football this weekend, but as I'm just new to BJ...I've got no idea where would be best.

Is there an Australian pub/bar somewhere here that might be showing it? If not, what do ppl think is the best sports bar to go and watch it?

It's during the middle of the day on Sunday, so opening hours wouldn't be a problem.

Desperate for my AFL fix (after a year in rural China)...so any help would be hugely appreciated!!.

Thanks
Pete

Re: Australian pub...Where???

I think The Rickshaw will have it.

Re: Australian pub...Where???

Just about any bar with a satellite will be able to show it for you, it is on the Australia Network every Saturday and Sunday around lunch time and every Fri Sat and Sun at 11pm.

It is always on at Rickshaw and the Den but you'll get it at Franks, the Pavillion and the Goose and Duck without any trouble.

Enjoy

Re: Australian pub...Where???

It is so nice to be back in a big city..!!! Thanks for letting me know. Is any of the places mentioned more "Australian" in atmosphere??

Hoping to catch a few other countrymen who might be out enjoying Port crush the Cats.. Wink

hahaha Good luck with that one! I'm not a Geelong supporter but it'll be difficult to beat 'em.

Its hard to say which of all the pubs quoted above is more Aussie. Goose and Duck has alot of Aussies in it, but you need to ask the owner to put the footy on for you.(Staff usually don't know how) The Den has it on or will be pleased to put it on for you. Come finals time the Den has big numbers of Aussies in there to watch - and the finals are LIVE! Grand Final day, the Den is the best place to watch it. I wonder who the Eagles will play in the GF this year? Big Grin

Re: Australian pub...Where???

Thanks a lot..will probably head down to the Den then..

Good luck with the Eagles..I think u might need it ;-P!

Re: Australian pub...Where???

Stupid...

Australian atmosphere?

What is that? Dingos, Kangaroos and passed-out alcoholic Abos?

You don't have a culture, you're like us Canadians.

On this point I almost agree with Hero, around the world I find Canadians to be really quite similar to us, it's refreshing after all the other wierdos you come across, but one feature of the "no personal culture" of the Aussies and Canadians is that we don't give a f*** about it!

Rants like that render your point invalid, the "culture" of an Aussie pub is a place where no-one would have listen to all your sort of rubbish!

Anyways, any place where blokes can enjoy footy together is good news regardless of, or lack of, culture!

Re: Australian pub...Where???

Between getting the staff to figure out how to change channels and pulling them away from their Man-U re-run highlights I bid you good luck.

I am a Freo Shocker supporter.... I used to be strong...

Hero, thanks for introducing yourself before launching into your belligerent rant. What a humble yet accurate self-description. Yeah, its an identity thing, sorry if you felt a bit left out

Re: Australian pub...Where???

Big Grin Don't worry about hero. I think even Collingwood supporters are higher up the intellect scale.

mmmmmmm actually thinking about that, I reckon it'd be a grand final.

@waters, yep anywhere blokes can watch footy has gotta be good. That's plenty cultcha enough.

There's plenty of places, as stated above.

Re: Australian pub...Where???

you can set up Austrilia Network at home, about 1500RMB per year.

Re: Australian pub...Where???

why are most aussies such alcoholic racist a*sholes?

Australians have a penchant for drinking that outstrips most Europeans and DEFINITELY anyone from North America.

Could that explain why their women look like such unhealthy, washed up, wrinkly, buck-toothed wenches?
