I am not familiar with the guomao area and was hoping someone could tell me what road these stores are on, or even better, what crossroads?

Follow the 3rd ringroad south from Guomao until Shuangjing bridge (the next proper exit, if walking you'll see a McDonalds). Turn left - they're along this road on your left.

I wouldn't visit Carrefour on a weekend if I were you...

how might i instruct a taxi to take me there from the guomao subway stop? I need to go to B+Q, unless anyone can recommend a place to buy plastic drop-cloth/tarp for painting closer to wudaokou...

I'd say you could get anything like that in the huge market at Da Zhong Si, two stops from Wudaoukou on the line 13

Just tell him "Shuang Jing Jia Le Fu", they all know.
