Seriously people, when is it opening? Maybe Beijing Boyce can shed some light? There's gotta be someone out there who is friends with the owner of Kro's Nest.

Had lunch there today so it's open. Have to say I was amazed by the size of the Medium pizza, but for the rest it was a tad disappointing. A Small pizza is just one slice of the bigger one, and then 17 kuai is a bit much, and the price of the salads and drinks are also not very friendly. The only two exceptions are a diet coke and a tsingdao draft (10 and 15 respectively). Most other beers are 35 (carlsberg), 15 for any other soft drink (even water) and mixes for 65 to 90 (gin-tonic goes for 70).
So good place to go with a group of friends for shared pizza and beers, but everything out of that list and you'll end up paying a double bill.
I've always found them to be very reasonably priced--especially now considering how high their rent must be. Their ingredients and ovens are mostly imported too--17 kuai is too expensive for a big slice of pizza????
17 kuai for one slice of pizza is much in my opinion, since the slice is really not that huge. As said before, stick to shared pizza and local beer, and it's a great place.
went to kro's nest yesterday for lunch. good pizza all around: good crust, good sauce, good toppings... the deck out back was relaxing. for the cost-conscious, you can get a medium pizza (which has six big slices) and two qingdao drafts for 110 kuai - very reasonable for pizza of this quality and size.
the mixed drinks are expensive but huge. according to management, the jack and coke has three oversized shots of whisky (~ 5 ounces). it costs 90 kuai but is a sizeable pour.

I'm sort of lost when it comes to marketing tactics by selling liquor in this fashion - 90 kuai for a drink, even if it is that strong, I've gone to dive joints and paid 20 kuai for a jack and coke and been given a glass filled with jack and a coke can - must be missing something.
all i could say to my guy when the pizza came...... "this kind of sh*t is why the rest of the world hates you americans"
excessively large. I had to force down 2 slices. The toppings are crazy thick and they dont skimp on the cheese.
all other things on the menu are priced interestingly..
the 90kuai jack and coke really threw us.
but im guessing they dont want it to turn into a divey drinking hole (it already resembles poachers inside)
that way people will come to eat and have a beer or two but they wont get a cheap student crowd overflowing from Vics and Mix looking for booze refills and causing trouble.
I would pay 70kuai for a triple G&T if it really was that large.
but who cares anyway.. go there for the pizza.. you dont need anything else.

My guess on their marketing is that they WANT the beer and pizza crowd but not the hard core drinkers and mixed cocktail crowd. This in itself makes sense being a 'PIZZA JOINT' not to mention that once word gets out that the food and beer is great, but don't go for the drinks, it is a lot less hassle to stock the bar.
Keep it simple, and it works, try to satisfy everyone, and you don't make anyone happy.
Their marketing and pricing strategy makes perfect sense to me.
- also 17 kuai for a slice is not expensive. You have been in China eating Chuar too long, think of the potential loss they would incur if you walked in , ordered one slice to which they had to make an entire pizza and the rest didn't get ordered or eaten. their has to be a premium on custom orders which in essence it is. If you don't have the sense to buy a medium and fridge what you can't eat, or you don't have enough friends to go through a medium pizza, then you have other problems.

Just a suggestion: don't use your personal pic as an avatar. Some people have done it before, and in most cases it has come back to haunt them.
