I love 666

+ 666

In Asia, 666 and swastika are both positive symbols. In some other places they're not. Got any more peculiar symbols/characters to add?

It's better to be nice, kind, generous, friendly, helpful, sexy and rich than to be obnoxious, scary, stinky, stingy, lonely and poor.

Re: I love 666

the swastika was always a positive symbol

it was hitler who f***ed it up... printed it backwards and made it negative.

an ancient Buddhist symbol made into a universal sign of racism and hate. very unfortunate.

Re: I love 666

I believe it symbolises unity....which was the idea he meant to convey.

Or at least he thought thats what it means....dont know if it does or not. Makes sense though.

The swastika is an ancient religious symbol dating back 3000 years. Many historians believe it was initially a fire and sun symbol occurring in Asia and later among some Germanic tribes. Up until the 20th century, it evolved as a highly auspicious talisman, evoking thoughts of reverence, good fortune, and well being. In the Buddhist tradition of India, it is referred to as "The Seal on Buddha's Heart". In Japanese and Chinese Buddhism, a swastika often appears on the chest of past and modern images of Gautama Buddha; however, due to the continued consternation of Western tourists, many modern Asian artists have chosen to eliminate it as one of the 32 signs of a supreme being. The debate as to whether this ancient religious symbol can be restored to its rightful place in history tirelessly continues. How such an auspicious and truly noble symbol came to represent tyrannical oppression and racial genocide is perhaps one of the greatest paradoxes of world history.

The Sign of the Swastika

Throughout India, the image of the swastika is as ubiquitous as the image of the serpent. It appears on Siva temples, the doors of homes, as a decoration on mobile food-stalls, in folk art and on rugs, and exists as a significant design or yantra at ceremonial occasions.

To the Western world, however, the swastika is probably the most disturbing image that has ever been associated with a political regime. The Nazi Party of Germany used its powerful pattern to full advantage during the Second World War.

Surrounding their use of the image there exists a widespread misconception concerning the representation of the symbol. It is commonly thought that the motif of the Third Reich was an inverted swastika, a deviation from the original ancient design. The point needs clarification.

Regardless of the swastika's configuration, i.e. right-angled or left-angled, the symbol's significance does not suffer; it merely indicates two opposing principles, evolution and dissolution.

The swastika has both spiritual and social implications. Its use by millions of people in India for ceremonial and decorative purposes is primarily a sociological application. Its more esoteric meaning is possibly obscure to many.

Cosmology and the Swastika

Like e.g. the serpent, the swastika crystallizes fundamental principles relating to natural universal processes and their relationship to terrestrial life and was designed to evoke an intuitive or emotional response rather than an intellectual understanding.

`Swastika', a Sanskrit word, means literally `well being' which has many variables depending upon the application. As the serpent is the symbol of the creative, energizing force of the Supreme Spirit, the swastika is representative of that life-force being set in motion to initiate the cyclic workings of nature. Both images are thus closely inter-related.

The ancient Vedic seers described the original cosmic creative process as `the churning of the milky ocean' whereby fields of subtle substance become condensed into gross matter; a view that is now widely accepted today in energy-field physics research.

Re: I love 666

Actually it wasn't just about the swastika, but what the hell..

Finnish swastika was used long before it was used by the nazis. I think it's an interesting fact.. It's still used today (see the photo).

But this or similar symbol was used pretty much everywhere in the world. If Hitler picked the exclamation mark "!" as his symbol, then we'd be talking about it now just the same. :roll:

So true!

Re: I love 666

The swastika was commonly used by the Navajo and Hopi tribes in the American Southwest, and served as the divisional emblem of the U.S. 45th Infantry Division until 1933. In 1939 it was replaced with the Thunderbird.

I've had multiple Chinese friends tell me that 666 is a lucky number, kind of like 777, I suppose.

The number 6, pronounced "liu", sounds like the word for "flowing", "smooth" or "slippery" which can mean "everything goes smoothly".

The number 666 is considered one of the luckiest numbers. It can be seen prominently in many shop windows across the country, and people there often pay extra to get a mobile phone number including this string of digits. Coincidentally, that number is considered to be demonic in Western culture, as it is the Number of the Beast.

License plate number AW6666 was bought for 272,000 yuan (US$34,000) in an auction by an anonymous bidder on behalf of a motorcycle dealership in Zengcheng, Guangzhou.

6 = smoothly (liu sounds like li in 顺利)
8 = get rich (ba sounds like fa in 发财)
9 = forever (永远, but I don't know what's the connection)
4 = die (si sounds like si 死)

I also noticed many 666's in Germany on car number plates. Not sure why.

Re: I love 666

I've heard a little different:

6 = 流 (like above poster said, flowing smooth; 流利)
9 = jiu3 ~ jiu4 = 旧 old (in a bad way, like old socks, not like your dear old Grandma)

and a few more:

1: pronounced yao4 = 要; will
5: sounds like I/me; 我

518 = very good
514 = very bad

Re: I love 666

666 as most people know is The Number of the Beast. A great song by the way by Iron Maiden.

The Roman emperor Neron Caesar (Nero) is believed to be who the number represents. During his time, Nero is thought to be responsible for persecuting many Christians and his name. In the Book of Revelation The Number of the Beast is referred to and it was written after Nero's death. Using numerology and a few translations, the name Neron Caesar formulates to the number 666.

Re: I love 666

666 merely means man trying to ascend to God's power.

6 = man as it was his creation day
3 Xs = the holy trinity and the number of times 6 is being used is to indicate man wanting to become god. We are the beast, my friends.

As far as the swastika, many wear it as worship or appreciation of German mechanized society and a celebration of internal combustion technology that drove the vehicles.
