downgrading from z to f/l?

I'm working here on a Z visa, my residence permit is valid until June but I will soon quit my job.
I don't have a new job yet. If my present employer cancels my Z visa (I assume they can do this) will it be easy to get a new L or F visa so I can stay and look for a new job?
thanks

I'm not an expert on this, but you should also obtain a release letter from your current employer. This might be needed as proof you are no longer working with a Z visa ...

Anyone else know more about this?

Re: downgrading from z to f/l?

After you quit your job, the company can cancel your Alien Employment Permit (or Alien Expert Certificate if you teach).

And the company can issue a release letter, explaining your work status.

With that, you have two options:

You can go to PSB and the police will offer you a short-term non-renewable visa, which is mainly used for you to prepare to leave. Wink

Second, you can turn to an agent and get a longer F visa. But it is quite expensive now.

Or even without having the release letter, you can go to HK to re-apply for a new L or F. Of course your Residence Permit will be cancelled simultaneously. To do this, you need to pay for the round-trip tickets, hotel fee... Anyway, it is not an economic way.

Why not find a new job then quit the present one? In Chinese, it is called "Qi Lv Zhao Lv" (When riding on a donkey, try to find another donkey to ride on). Laughing

Finding a new job before quitting is the best thing cause if you change your Z to L then it would be more difficult to convert L to Z at this moment. Laughing
