there is currently no reason to own a ps3...most of the best games due for release are still quite a while away...like FFXIII,RE5,MGS4 etc...wait till the games come out...it will be cheaper.

at the very least...you need a basic loader.

But I havent seen a specific loader for a single psp game in about a year and a half....so you'll need something to run iso's and emulate the umd.

Look for faq's on the after-dawn psp forums.

I remember i got my XBox for around 2000 Kuai, with second controller and extra cooler...

Honestly, XBox is the best console you can own right now, especially here in china.

Wii: Wii is really cool, but the good games are somewhat limited.. Recently there are only some minigame collection spinoffs and stuff like that. Also a big problem here in china is, that good games ala Mario Galaxy are only available in Japanese, since chipped Wiis do have a problem with american copies.. I didnt try to download and burn the games by myself though. Yea but, in the end, the only good games for a gamer are: Zelda, some Shooters you play through once, Paper Mario and there is one cool racing game.. Things like Wii Play and Sports get boring very soon.

PS3: There is no doubt that the PS3 is the most powerful console on the market. And sony has some great licenses as mentioned before. I for one cant wait to get my hands on FFXIII and MGS4... but, yea, as said before, these games are not out yet. In addition, there is no way yet to chip a PS3, that means you have to buy every game in original. Especially here in china that is a shot through the heart. Last but not least there is to mention, that 80 % of PS3 games are actually also launching on the XBox 360.

Now, i was never a big Microsoft Fan and i kind of disliked the old XBox.. But i have to say, XBox 360 is definately worth every fen. The grafics, especially in HD, are just awsome, this counts not only for games, but for MOVIES as well! The games are some of the best i played in a long long time, just a few mentions:

Gears of War is like the best shooter ever (even better than the allready superb halo 3) Burnout Paradise, i spent hours with just driving around, and crashing where and when i wanted... I still remember the first time i played Assasins Creed, and i knew, the first step into a whole new different world of gaming was done.. Ever heard of Viva Pinata? It has me tied gaming for more than 30 hours allready, and i just bought it last week. Lost Odyssey, made by the creators of Final Fantasy, soundtrack by Uematsu himself and extending over.. 4 (one two three FOUR!) DvDs, in Lost Odyssey i could not tell the difference between rendered CGs and game grafics anymore.

Btw, a very cool feature is that the XBox actually chooses the games language for you. Both Lost Odyssey and Viva Pinata i bought the chinese or japanese version, but i am playing it totally in english on my XBox. I always hated it on the PS2 or Wii when i bought a really cool game, and than it was in japanese, and there was nothing i could do about it. Exept learning japanese i guess.

Yea, buttom line: Get an XBox 360

Xbox- similar to wii but not as good as pc

wii- you get to play with yourself? anything new...... no...

PS3- probably the best choice if you dont buy a snazzy new laptop, COMPUSA just went out of business lots of new cheap crap if your in the US.
Why PS3, look at PS2 in china it has and still has a wide array of hacked games to play, so it would be safe to assume that the new ps3 will live up to all the ps2 did in china plus better gaming experience.

of course since i am writing this so late i will assume that you have already made your purchase and are a sucker, for lolipops or some shi*

PS3 can not be modified to play pirated games, the selection of good games is greater on the Xbox, xbox live is more robust than PSN. And even games which are available on both platforms are usually noticeably inferior on the ps3 (performance wise).
Example: Fallout 3

The only exclusive to the ps3 worth worrying about is Metal Gear Solid 4, that's just one game...and there's talk of it coming to xbox eventually.
Resident Evil 5, Final Fantasy XIII and many other "exclusive" playstation titles are all coming to xbox now.

The ps3 is a multimedia machine, no doubt about it.
It can do all kinds of cool sh*t that's not related to games.\

Too bad.

I hated the original X-box, and the inevitable fan-boy console war that emerged was pretty gay.
Never thought I'd end up saying this but the xbox360 is vastly superior to the PS3 at the moment.

The ps3 has more firepower on paper..not in practice, developers have yet to figure out how to use it.

In a few years perhaps they'll unlock some amazing potential in the ps3.
In the meantime there is no contest.

It's really an overdue upgrade.

I just had so many PS2 games... so so so many. I didn't even end up playing them all.

Now the question of what to do with all the PS2 gear I have, steering wheel, gun, guitars, drums, my wife even bought a dance mat.

And all the games.
