It's one of the bigger stores on the whole street. If you walk north from Chang an jie look for a McDonalds on the right hand side. It's just south of that.
There's another one across the street and a bit north. Both quite easy to find if you keep your eyes peeled.
And also, Im not breaking any rule, if anyone thinks that this would somehow be offensive to them please tell me. And if u want it taken down, then try to ban me!
Yeah, wangfujing subway will let you out into a mall. Is that the only exit from the subway?
I think so.
So when you go into the mall, go upstairs and left, that's the nearest mall exit (some Beijing Olympic stalls in the mall on both sides of the exit), and also closest to the bookstore.
When you exit the mall onto the sidewalk, go right, it's the next big building on your right, lots of steps in front. Says Xinhua Bookstore.
(remember if you pass McD's you've gone too far)
And yeah, that other bookstore they mentioned is the Foreign Language Bookstore. It's quite a ways up the street, on the left. If you pass a big church on your right you've gone too far.

Popes and rabbis are ok, they're inderectly a religious symbol/icon/representant.
I wouldn't mind if he uses a rabbi as his avatar.
But using the star of David is a different matter, especially considering what's happening nowadays in Palestine and Lebanon to muslims and christians, I do feel offended by that symbol.
So the question is : is ANY religious symbol allowed in avatars, or not ?

How the heck can a person of a certain religion, be less offensive than that religions symbol?
The symbol, as with the Star of David, represents an idea, a belief. It neither condones nor endorses acts undertaken under its banner. Millions of people around the world follow those religious beliefs, without propagating or encouraging acts of violence or hate.
People, as in religious leaders, spokes people, church leaders etc, are often the ones who interpret and instigate acts, through their own person interpretation of the texts and teachings that have been handed down through that religions history.
As with any sector in society, it is the people who are responsible for the acts committed, not the flag they are flying or the religion/philosophy under which they perpetrate such acts.

Not true, Angloser.
Ancient Hindu/Buddhist/whatever swasitkas can be found oriented in any direction.
This is because when a swastika is hanging in space - it will appear oriented in either direction - simply by looking at it from either side. IOW, "directions" are all relative to the viewer and not absolutely inherent.
The reason Nazi's use it, is because they reversed it, to reverse the original Sanskrit svastika, "all is well".

and did you know there's quite an active group of "followers of Judaism" who wants to ban the counter-clockwise swastika as well?

i've friends and relatives in Lebanon and I DO FEEL DEEPLY OFFENDED.
despite the medias did their best to avoid any report of last year's war in Lebanon, there was indeed A WAR, and thousand of civilian deads.
go in Beirut and it's almost razed to the ground.
all because of that symbol and what it really represents : JUDAISM, a religion which racially divides human beings in jews and non-jews (goym).
no wonder the IDF had the guts to thrown phosphorous bombs in Beirut, as lebanese civilians, as well as the palestinians in Gaza, are considered non-humans, or as the Talmud says "talking animals".
how the hell can you guys say the star of david is like any other symbol ?
it's NOT.
nowadays it means death, war, and racial supremacism.
we don't demand for a debate about permitting avatars with stars of david or swastikas or whatever else, we only request TBJ clearly states that NO religious symbols are allowed and that therefore the star of david is against the board rules and must be removed.
so why are you so religiously intolerant and such a bigot?
WTF? 'Espousing offensive religious beliefs'? To what have i been 'religiously intolerant' and bigoted?
Franz Whatshisface was telling another poster to change his avatar, because he found it offensive.
I was saying I disagreed with his opinion on the matter.
of course you disagree, because the IDF hadn't bombed your homes or thrown phosphorous on your friends or relatives.
but try for once to realize there are millions of people in the middle east
who are VICTIMS of the israeli warmongers.
the Star of David is israel's national flag, it's the symbol of judaism, it's painted in any soldier's jacket, in any tank, in any rifle, in any warboat, in any jetfighter.
therefore, may we like it or not, it goes well beyong religion, as it today represents an invading army killing civilians and forcing palestinians to starvate, no more no less than in a giant open air concentration camp, why else do you think they thrown down the wall bordering with egypt to buy food and water ?
not even the nazis reached these new highs, in the '40s enemies were just grouped and shooted, here we're talking of 40 years of civil war continued violations of any international threaties, Geneva declaration, and basic human rights.
i've all the rights to find that star highly offensive, and if TBJ doesn't take action it means TBJ supports the barbarian genocide of palestinians in Gaza.
You guys are confusing the hell out of me. I suffer from swastika dislexia and you are tormenting me through my condition by posting pictures of swastikas in opposing directions. If you had and compassion at all you would not might light of the the fact that some people's brains cannot differentiate between the two.
It's a very disabling disorder that limits one from ever being either an effective buddhist and/or nazi. I request this thread be locked and all posters be perma-banned for mocking the community of swastika dislexics.
When I said 'death' before 'dishonor', I meant alphabetically.
so why did you go on a rant about the swastika then?
it doesn't matter if the star of david isn't offensive to you and you don't care, but if the star of david is allowed then so should the swastika.
Firstly, i don't believe my comments constituted a 'rant'. As i said, i believed Franz was mistaken in his opinion about the Buddhist use of the Swastika. Based on what others have said over the last few posts, i'm now reading up more about it on a few other sites. It appears that both clockwise and anti-clockwise have been used by a variety of faiths, though the exact origins and definition of both are uncertain and still open to debate.
And i never said that the Swastika shouldn't be used. Howver, i would say that sybolicly and more evidentially, the context in which they are used, is greatly different. The Nazi Swastika was solely used by Hitler to represent a new era, an army of death and destruction (despite its positive origins). On the other hand, as far as I am aware (please point me in the right direction if i'm wrong) the Star of David has only recently been flown under the banner of war and violence, but has a longer history and not so 'one sided' interpretation, as the Nazi Swastika.
