Ciro's Pomodoro
Chances are, walking from sanlitun to the back side where Aperetivo is, you're caught a glimpse of a couple of pictures showing the same man alongside some of hollywood's brightest stars. He's looking slightly sleazy in most of those pictures and the sign reads : Ciro's Pomodoro : Opening soon.
The grand opening is still a few weeks away but I had the "chance" to go in yesterday for one of their "soft opening nights" and sample the food, service and drinks.
Service:
It was ace! Maybe part of it is we walked in and Ciro himself was there ( tattooed and covered with rings and necklaces) along with the manager Frederica and the italian-american cook.
Staff all spoke English and were within a second away should we need anything.
Decor:
Nice and clean. Loads of pcitures of Ciro with rock'nroll royalty and hollywood A-listers. There was also a small stage with a drumkit. I don't think the place can fit more than 50 comfortably but I could be wrong.
Food:
Italian-american. Some dishes have comments on them regarding the stars that do enjoy eating them. Prices were slightly stiff..... Pizza for 80rmb, caesar salad for 60, Roasted chicken mushroom 120.... you get the idea. Menu was comprehensive and had a bit of everything for everyone.
The bread they served with pesto, butter and tomatos was really nice.
The pizza was solid with a decent level of sophistication for it being a margarita.
Casear salad was definitely overpriced and rich in dressing
veal was tasty
Chicken was a bit bland.
pasta just normal.
We finished things of with a tiramissu that was rich in mascarpone.. extremely rich in mascarpone.
Drinks:
Prices were beijing average! selection of reds by the glass from 40 to 60. 40rmb for a white russian and most other cocktails. I stuck to the red but will try the white russian on my next trip. I would go back for drinks, no problem.
Overall,
Nice place, few opening jitters and it's got personality but the food prices were stiff. our bill was 700+ rmb for 4 of us.
Most of it was food!

some folks have reported that the food quality improved and that their stuff is pretty good now..
