How do we get more women to post?

It's a good idea - I'm wondering what methods we can use to encourage the chicks to speak up and not just lurk in the corners like wee timid mice? There must be some birds in beijng with a bit of spunk?

Here are my suggestions for getting the totty to contribute.

1. Start being more chauvanistic, stop defending women. Sounds counter intuative I know, but it takes something you feel strongly about to inspire that first post. After the first they get sucked in and will post more.

2. Get Watson to choose avatars for everyone.

3. The chicks already here need tos start more topics about things girls are interested in - like "which footballer has the best legs. OMG!lol"

Any other ideas?

I think the biggest problem is that (generally) chiccitas are more sensitive than guys and whenever they get involved in heated debates they will be personally attacked, often attackes related to their physical appearance.

some of the things which have been said on here, are enough to make a sensitive person want to hang themselves from their gaudy Chinese lighting fixture.

until this BBS is a zone free from comments such as "go shove another big mac into your fat hairy face" the ratio of men to women will always lie in the sausage-fest category.

The exceptions to this rule however, do make this a better place.

But if they are commenting in the male dominated threads(ie news, current affairs, the serious issues) then that is going to happen. They are more delicate creatures it's true so they should stick to areas of conversation where they feel more comfortable and are not out of their depth intellectually.

Maybe we could have a "kitchen" section on the site, where the honeyz can go and talk timidly about hot guys, footballers legs new receipes and make up?

Lodgerly - can you start a thread about footballers legs? Lets say ronaldo vs beckham. That'll get them involved.

Think about sth else. Like....movies, starcraft, literature, history, sci-fi stuff...etc.

I think that is pretty irrelevant, actually. Women can actually get a lot more graphically crude amongst themselves than you might think. And if we all started talking like boring gentlemen tomorrow, there would not suddenly be a huge influx of new poon.

I think most messageboards just tend to be male-dominated and women only seem to gravitate towards special interests like profile (vanity/networking) sites, celeb gossip, etc. If anyone knows of any exceptions to this, please post them as examples so we can backwards-engineer them. Laughing
